I was at Golds Gym in October 1968 when Arnold arrived. I got to measure his arms one day and they were 21 1/2 inches. That day he wouldn't let me measure his calves and told me to come back in two weeks. I always wondered what was supposed to happen in just two weeks. He is the only bodybuilder from those days who had huge calves from the side. Except he had an unusual lump on the inside. You can see it from the back as well. What the heck is that? If you compare his calves at their biggest with the guys today who have huge calves his seem odd. So we know what huge calves look like and Arnold's look weird. There were accusations that Arnold cheated and got help from doctors. Joe Gold claimed he knew the truth but wasn't telling. Calves don't disappear. Mine are still over 17 " cold with absolutely no calf training. Arnold's calves have atrophied quite a lot. A mystery! What you, Arnold?
Didn't Lou Ferrigno also apparently have calf implants upon this 1992 Mr. Olympia comeback?
Yup. The thighs added together should be as close as possible to the chest measurement. The arms, neck and calves should be close to one another. And your waist should not be bigger than your chest!
ferigno did have loaded up calves. very obvious. so why would he use such a fake looking option when twenty years earlier Arnold supposedly went to mexico and got implants that flex, striate and move like real muscle???
Arnold is the sort of guy who would find a way and then just do it. The ends justify everything to that guy.
Arnie will always be the king, plus Francos arms look pretty chunky in this shot.
I am not bitter. Good luck to to Arnold and everyone else.
^^Vince, if you remember Arnold in 1980 when he came to Australia for the Olympia, he worked out at Paul Graham's Gym- did he have decent calves for the contest?? I know his legs had shrunk!
Arnold and Chris Dickerson had great calves that year.
This right here^His calves were 20"+
