I dislike it all but to each his own.
? For you Ach. When you go to Egypt are you open about being an atheist or do you have to pretend to be muslim? I ask because i am atheist and would like to visit and not be killed or thrown in prison. Maybe its accepted if you are an american visitor. Please educate.
I'm very much NOT open about it when I go! I mean... with close family and friends - they obviously all know where I stand... but other than that I don't go publicly advertising it or anything.
But I should clarify that I've already agreed with my wife that whenever we have kids we will raise them as muslims and teach them about the religion (Obviously, pretty liberally, as both of us were raised) because I do believe it definitely benefited me growing up as a kid... once they get old enough though they can decided to believe in whatever the hell they want.
And my suggestions for you if you visit...1. Don't talk about being athiest.... this is very looked down upon, more so than jews (and jews are badly disliked over there). Just keep your mouth shut about it!
2. Don't visit anytime soon, shit is still really unstable over there! I was planning a business trip over this December, and cancelled because of how chaotic it is still!
