Need someone to explain quantum mechanics to me

Is anyone here familiar with Bell's Theorem and the concept of nonlocality (electrons being able to communicate with each other simultaneously)? I've been reading about it and it is driving me crazy because it just doesn't seem possible (I understand the results of the experiment, just not how this could be so). I figured most of the experts here on Getbig would have a good explanation.

i believe, though i might be mistaken, that the experiment was based on the idea that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. the "magic" communication between electrons was "proven" because in order to their to be some kind of mechanical communication going on it would have had to have occured at a speed faster than the speed of light. since this is (was) thought impossible, it is(was) assumed that there was some kind of "spooky" action going on between the electrons.

however the recent development with nuetrinos being observed going faster than the speed of light throws that idea out the window.

TWEET, I don't recall if your specific questions are answered in the only 'basic' book I can find on QM, but you might want to read Dancing Wu Li Masters to get a good idea of what QM is all about.

I found it difficult to understand but  have had a couple of occasions with experts in the field and both agreed that I discussed the subject intelligently.

And each of them stated that anyone who claims to understand QM entirely, knows nothing about QM at all.

The book is posted in PDF form on the net and you can load it and read it at your leisure, but no matter how smart you are ..... it will be difficult, but interesting, reading.

I dont know that it would technically be described as a limit - just the fastest known discovered property in the universe.

What a poor generalization - It states that to claim knowledge in a field is to indicate no or little understanding and yet to claim you have no knowledge would also indicate no or little understanding. HA HA Getbiggers would believe anything.

The interesting part starts someplace around page 54 . Beyond page 54 your mind starts expanding if you take it step by step and do your best to understand it.

It starts off by explaining the dual nature of light.

Is light a wave or a particle?

And it can be either .... depending on how you 'look' at it (observe it), which seems to mean that the light wave or the light particle 'seems to know' hou you are 'looking' and adjusts accordingly.

Beyond that, you find yourself thinking deeply and learn new 'stuff' such as the non-existaence of material objects, and when and if you turn left, someone is an ulterior universe turns right .... or doesn't turn at all ... ad infinium ... thereby creating every movement possible in many different univrerses. (I think some other GetBigger explained this better in an earlier post as I are dumb and I explain it dumbly.)

Difficult to explain and comprehend but it makes you  think ... and I think  you'll enjoy reading it .

quantum physics will indeed one day replace everything else we have on physics, einstein was not as mathematically advanced as people who don't know physics probably assume, he was very smart and intuitive and foremost had the courage to say to a generation that I am the god of physics for now, he was laughed at of course in his own time, but he came to define for us what the word genius means

Agree with quantam physics statement, but einstein will always deserve credit, you can only play with the tools in your toolbox, I am sure if he was born in this time, he would still be a remarkable man and thinker.  Just like Larry Scott wasnt as good as future olympians, great men will always be great, no matter what time they are born in.

QM seems to fall into the tree falling in the woods kinda theory. Does it make a sound? The answer could be yes and no.
QM apears to describe one thing behaving in complete oposing ways.
It also apears conscienceness has somthing to do with it. I saw a show that tried to eplain it as looking at a cat in a closed box.
Is the cat alive or dead?  Well it seems that unless some form of conscienceness observes it, it is both alive and dead. And then you take it a step further. Are you alive or dead? What conscienceness is observing you? And it seems to go on and on until you arive at some kind of universal conscienceness.

Now that my eyes are all crossed i gotta go smoke a joint.

there is nothing special about light, simply put once u have reached that speed, time has stopped for you. it is not a speed limit, it is a time limit, and it is an explanation of why is the speed of light the same for everyone no matter how fast u r going. so if u are going 100 mph, speed of sound is not c - 100mph, it is still c, because time for you has slowed down just a little bit

not so hard to understand - when you observe something you shine light or use some other particle (electrons in an electron microscope) this leads to the conclusion that the way you observe something can affect the measurement.
