Would you say from the age of the cars that video was made in around 1959? Then yes, I could've been the kid in that video. I combed my hair like his and it was pretty much the same color. Not only that, I wore 501's and I thumbed rides to the beach sometimes.
I did have two occasions when I took a ride with folks who were up to no good. One was a woman and one was an old man. I will say the woman was more direct, whereas the man was a total creep. I punched the old man and jumped out of his car when he stopped at light.
One night when I was hitchhiking home from a party, I got a ride with four really big college age dudes all well over 200 lbs. I wasn't scared until the driver asked me if I was. He drove me all the way to my parents house, dropping me off at the front gate. I think I sighed a sigh of relief when I got inside. Yep, hitchhiking can be a dangerous adventure for a young kid.
