I did know folks who died of AIDS. I also know one person who is living with HIV as a result of a blood transfusion many years ago.
Fortunately for him, he is healthier today then he has been for many years preceding this time. Some of these folks are/were gay and some not.

I married my wife in 1964 when I was twenty years old after we'd lived together for a year. I may have still been in my prime, so to speak in the 1980's. However, I wasn't sexually active outside my marriage (don't assume that because I admit to being bisexual that I am also a sex addict anymore than you should assume a heterosexual in a committed relationship and who appreciates hot looking women has sex with every woman he meets).

I do know folks who used hard drugs. Some have died as a result of their addictions and some have been clean for years.

Surely, if one is sick or abuses their body with drugs, it can affect longevity. I have never had a sexually transmitted disease of any kind and have never been into drugs beyond my smoking three joints when I was fairly young and dropping acid one time....hardly the life of a hardcore drug user.
