Police have identified a man they say was killed by the manager of a Wilmington Island, Ga., Wendy’s restaurant during an attempted armed robbery early Thursday, reports the Savannah Morning News.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police identified the gunman as William Martin Clark, 27, of the 800 block of Wexler Street. Police are still looking for his accomplice, who ran from the area after Clark was shot by the manager of the restaurant at U.S. 80 and Johnny Mercer Boulevard.
Police said store manager Robert Cody Dasher, 22, was surprised by two men wearing masks as he was cleaning the store after closing. Dasher was forced at gunpoint into an office where the two men took money and left.
The manager obtained his own handgun and walked outside into the parking lot. The newspaper reported that, “When the robbers saw the employee, Clark pointed the pistol at him and the employee fired.”
Police said they found Clark’s body and the pistol used in the robbery in the parking lot.
