Going to school with them, this was soo on point. There was an article about 8 yrs back in the Washington Post magazine, and they chronicled two black kids in a Northern Va HS---one male, the other female. The female's white girl-friends had said that "it's almost like you're not black" and something about her hair...

you do know that most American blacks have no real ethnic ties to West Africa? Generic, yes, but due to intermarriage, and being mixed, it's virtually impossible to claim or trace what ethnic group one is from...unless you are the Gulahs of South Carolina...
