And he has said that Iran is a threat, but there is other ways to deal with it.

He has a point when he said a lot of hate comes from the fact that we have bases in peoples backyards.

THose people want us there....Japan/Korea/Germany etc. Iran is attempting to build a base in Venezuela. Why do you think we've persued the "war on drugs" for so long. We have tons of troops rotating through there to make sure Hugo and Iran don't get to cozy.

You dont see me arguing those places. lol. I dont want to speak for Paul, so Im not going to talk out of our ass, but I think he's reffering more to the troops we have in the middle east protecting our assests in places that dont want us there.

I cant see them packing up the 3rd MarDiv and sending it home, lol.

You really dont think that Iran's actions can be directly related to our actions in the middle east? Because I think it would be incredibly ignorant to try and argue that our actions there have nothing to do with Irans current actions.

If someone broke into my neighbors house several times and shot at him, youre damn right im going to be buying some weapons. We were the aggressors over there, and IMHO, a large portion of Irans actions can be directly attributed to that. Im sure they wouldnt be our best friends if we didnt invade Iraq and Afghanistan, but im willing to bet it would be a helluva lot different.

My feeling is that Iran is making a lot of actions out of fear of being next.

Paul went when he was drafted...worked as a surgeon as well so while he wasn't fighting in the foxholes, he certainly didn't have a picnic putting people back together....(Think Hawkeye from MASH).  Ron Paul had it pretty bad if you ask me

What you have to understand, is that RP threatens HH6's livelyhood. Being a career military man, the worst thing that could happen for HH6's way of life is for RP to get into office and cut the shit out of the military, there is a real possibility of him being forced into retirement or out of the military.

I think that's a really good point to bring up, because he's just looking out for his own interests like we all really have to do.  Can't dislike him for that.

1. You realize that the President has the power of the veto, right?

2. You realize that he would compromise right with the Democrats on spending cuts right where they want: he would cut military spending in exchange for cuts to domestic spending.

3. Ron Paul blames America first? He is the only one with a true "America first" policy: he believes that the purpose of our foreign policy should be to serve our interests, not the interests of tinpot dictators and foreign countries.
