Best PS3 Games
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:03:18 PM »
Ok so I recently broke down and bought a PS3, Im not an avid gamer I just play from time to time to relax and have some fun when I get a free moment or two.

Im looking for some good games: fps, role playing, sports, just about anything that is a good game

I already have

god of war 3
MW3
Madden 2012
rocksmith
Assasins Creed-the latest one(not a big fan, although ive only played like 20 mins of it)

any suggestions?

battlefield 3.  Great graphics and harder than MW3

I'm done with assassins creed.  it's the same running around from on end to the other.  the first 20 minutes is what you can expect over the next3 hours kinda thing.

SOCOM is good, as are the Drake adventure games

My favorites so far:

Uncharted 2
Batman Arkham Asylum

Batman is awesome, atmosphere, gameplay, action, riddles, hidden stuff and everything just spot on. Amazing game and i can't wait to start playing Arkham City.
The combat system in Batman is so fucking awesome, it takes a while until you get it, but then it's great, long long combos and not the usual button hammering.

Uncharted is just fun, thrilling scenes in that, and especially if your a little sensitive of heights a lot of fun. It gets repetitive at some times though, and towards the end there's too many open shoot-out scenes for my liking, but otherwise a great game.

If you haven't played God of War 1&2 I strongly suggest buying the GOW collection and playing them first.

The ps4 might come out in later this year, tones.

Fifa and Mlb the show are both top of the line sports titles. You don't have to be a fan of those sports to enjoy those. They're just that much fun. Fifa 2012 came out last september and The show 2012 comes out in march.

ES Oblivion and Skyrim are both good sandbox style rpg's. Demons soul's and dark soul's are also good rpg's however they can sometimes be pretty tough. FUCKING tough infact. Might be a little too hardcore for you. Both are more linear than the oblivion/skyrim. There are other popular rpg's that I can't think of, mainly japanese shit that I don't care for.

Battlefield 3 is an awesome fps. Been playing for a couple months.

Thanks fellas, yea I kinda kicked myself with the ps4 also b/c i bought it right before Christmas and the xbox 360 went on sale shortly after.

Ive thought about Fifa for a sports game, Im not a big soccer fan but I remember my friend had a fifa game on game cube or n64 and I really like that.

I liked the commercials for battlefield 3 better than mw3 but my friends had mw3 and told me to get it so I could play online with them but I rarely ever get the chance.

I like the idea of a tough game b/c all the games Ive played so far are pretty easy.

Anybody play the golden eye or the latest bond game yet?

I played the old one on game cube for ever and really like that.

I think Ill look into the batman game, Ive heard good things.

Uncharted sounds cool too, I am pretty sensitive to heights so it might be pretty cool.

Any of you guys know if a hdmi cable makes a real big difference in quality of the games?

I am running the avi cables right now but was curious if the difference in quality was worth the price.

Oh hell yeah, if the TV is right (Full HD), go for the HDMI cable!

Yeah, but don't spend more than a few dollars on it.   Use monoprice.com and you'll get a good one for about 5 bucks.

If you have an hd, the hdmi is essential.

I do have an hd tv, one thing I just found out though is my tv may have a problem with its hdmi commercial.

I have a panasonic and i recently got a asus transformer prime and tried to connect it to the hdmi and got picture but no sound.

I tried to connect my pc to my tv a while back(vga to hdmi) and couldnt even get a picture.

Ill go snag a cheap hdmi cable and see if it works. Im curious how big of difference it makes on video games and dvds/bluerays.

When I switched my component cables to HDMI on my 360 the results were amazing.   PS3 always had HDMI, so I can't tell you if it improved or not.

GOW three has parts that should be one of best looking games ever.

On some of the minor characters, they had to sacrifice polys and they look odd, but for the most part the game is gorgeous.

GOD of War 3, Uncharted 1,2,3, Resistance 1,2,3 and Killzone 1,2,3.  Those are the best PS3 exclusives out.  All the rest you can find on the xbox 360.

Add the MGS games to that list. Probably the best of the bunch. Also mlb the show franchise deserves to be on that exclusive list.

MGS was my favorite series ever, but playing 4 without the benefit of playing the previous games would make it about 1/10th the game it was.

We asked someone to play MGS1,2, and 3 about a year ago and he said the games held up well over time and were a lot of fun.

MGS3 was near perfect to me.  Insane story and great gameplay.

Fighting "The End" boss fight took me 2 friggin' hours but I beat him on my first try.

How did you like Catherine?  I've heard mixed reviews from friends, good and bad.

How did you like Catherine?  I've heard mixed reviews from friends, good and bad.

it's about an early 30's guy cheating on his girlfriend katherine with a girl named catherine

he then has nightmares each night that involve him solving puzzles by pushing and pulling blocks to get to the top

there is also a morality meter that asks you questions like 'would you stay with your girlfriend if she got sick" your choice affects the ending you get when you beat the game, there are 8 endings

we have never had a story like this in a game, it is original and should be at least tried by anybody that likes games

between the story and puzzles, you hang out in the bar with your friends talking about women and texting back and forth with catherine and katherine

people that don't like it just aren't smart enough to solve the puzzles, if you can't handle the puzzles i would at least watch the story on youtube to see how it all plays out, it's that good for a game

That's good insight, Earl.   It certainly does sound unique.   Maybe I'll pick it up after I finish a few of the games I have.
