Sadly - current political races are based on demographics.   Where I live very often most races are uncontested and the Demo gets 95% or better of the vote.    Its awful.  in a district near me where Charlie Rangle runs he always gets 90% or better solely because he is a demo.   

Same for many areas in this country.   Look at Detroit, Chicago, NY, Cali, etc.
