Mike Christian's guns
« on: January 12, 2012, 07:52:37 PM »

Mike may have had some flaws; but his arms were def world class. I think this pic is circa '89-'91

He was a great bodybuilder. Shame about his personal problems. Anyone know what he's up to now or if he's been seen lately?

That's the 1991 WBF Championship. Here's his routine (that bicep shot you posted comes at the 1:17 mark):

And a posedown vs. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

Must be something in the black's water supply in S. Cal. Flex, Cormier, Mike Christian, just never could seem to go all the way. Must be true what they say.

Haha, agreed. Saw Mike Quinn at max bulk in 1986 and he looked ridiculous with his huge arms and back and these little pencil legs sticking out from his waist.

It was the location---too distracting. Add Melvin Anthony to that list, although, he was a John Brown protege...so was Shawn Ray, whose height was what stopped him.

he played the bad boy image, but started believing it, I think, too much

Was a good draw-card, like matarazzo and demayo later

Pearson's legs weren't that bad. But, you make the call:

"The Jetman" Tony Pearson

"Mighty" Mike Quinn

shawn ray 1987 nationals 21 yrs old as good as it gets,,looked like a pro already ..beat a freaky phil hill for the overall,,who had a good 88 but disappeared,,,youngest to go pro was dimora 86 19 or 20.

Don't forget the guy who beat Franco Santoriello for the overall '89 National title, Troy Zuccolotto.

All of them (except Baker) were smaller in '92 than they were in '91. Some tried to keep their size but were baby-behind smooth. Others tried to get ripped and dropped quite a bit of size. McMahon tested them for everything but the kitchen sink (Christian got fined a month's check, $25,000, for failing a test).

1992 was also the debut of this show, an attempt to bring muscles to the mainstream every week:

Before the WBF went belly-up, this "Body Star Wars" event was taped for air on BodyStars*:

*Skinner ended up replacing Rick "The Model" Martel on Team WWF; Danny Padilla subbed for Eddie "Major Guns" Robinson for Team WBF.

A lot of the wbf guys knew they couldn't make a dent in ifbb so went for the guaranteed package at wbf

Even though it folded, they got paid, probably did better than if they'd stayed with the ifbb during that timeframe

Strydom always looked good, later owned carzy wear , and mike quinn's conditioning at the
2nd WBF show can be contributed to being  a victim  of circumstance .
