E-Kul, I like you and and agree on many things you've said on this thread but we all must agree China lacks on this.
They are economic power. They are military power
in making. But they are not there yet.
Few key components pop up:-Positioning/guidance system. GPS is american. They control it. In case of war they shut it down. Modern missiles etc. are supposed to be guided. Chinese can't do this the most effective way because they lack satellite navigation (inertial guidance of course available but I'm speaking the most effective way). There are only two of those systems in world now; GPS and GLONASS.
-Strategic aviation. aka huge bombers that make long distance flights to drop huge loads of bombs (mostly designed for nuke strikes but can be used with conventional weapons as well). There are only two air forces in world possessing strike-capable strategic aviation.
-Navy, as stated earlier.
I'm not sure if China even possesses capability to "take down" US carriers. There are destroyers americans themselves have dubbed as "aircraft carrier killers". As far as I know, China doesn't have this caliber vessels.
-Air defense
Most capable air defense system in China (at least that I'm aware of) is Russian made S-300 system. That's obviously effective system for it's original purpose. Russians themselves are now putting S-400 in service (not sold abroad at this point) - this supposedly has the added capability of effectively detecting 'stealth'-objects... S-300 of course lacks this feature given it's age.
As everyone knows, USA has the most 'stealth' planes (various types) so being able to fight against them is very important.
China is coming. But the more sophisticated weapon systems take time to build. Heck, USA has been doing this since the ww2.
