This guy was a true kunt, leaving people to die.
Makes you wonder how someone of such obvious character/moral failings makes it to such a position of authority. Sad that so many had to pay for such an error.   :-\

No mystery here. Dude was drunk or drinking and didn't want to return to the scene and get busted.   People do the same thing all the time when they wreck their cars and they know they are DUI.

Only difference is he was driving a $750,000,000 boat and not a $20,000 Buick.

how the fuck do you sink a 1000 foot long, 100 foot high ship by "showboating"? theres only ONE man in charge of a vessel that huge?
Cruise ships are top heavy, Independence of the Sea for instance, has a draft of 28 feet, the container ship, Emma Maersk has a draft of 46 feet, and the Oil Tanker, TI Asia, has a draft of 80 feet
most of the action is up top on a cruise ship, which means very of the vessel is underwater.

wow amazing what a white captain can achieve

Easy now - a Kenyan Captain would have probably held up the passengers fro ransom.

there are reports from survivors that staff had no troubles going in the lifeboats way before the passengers, in fact they didnt inform passengers in order to make sure they ll be safe before them. The whole crew was of the same kind of the captain.

They're calling him "Captain Coward" everywhere.

Guess the old rule of the Captain going down with the ship no longer applies.
