a few of you are very naive in this thread...the reason you don't " shoot for the leg, is that you have no guarantee even if you hit him, that he doesn't draw a weapon in his waistband,etc...

You also don't want him to be ABLE to draw a hidden weapon, if you should miss....you are trained to hit the largest part of the target...

thanks Bob,kinda what i said. there is no "shoot the leg" in a high stress situation. maiming the perp will only make him rich once they go to court and all that shit.

perp cocked back on the officer and paid for it. as for the amount of shots, as many as it takes for him to go down.

They could of used a non lethal option first. They had the guy outnumbered. He was prob mentally ill. Sick the dog on him or nail him with a taser. I hate cops so this kind of shit bothers me.
1) As previously mentioned, they tazed him first and it failed.  2)the police dogs' life is more valuable than this low-life scumbag weilding a crowbar.  He could smash the dogs' skull with it.  I am honestly baffled by how you people are reacting to this video.

the issue is where does it stop? one day theyre shooting low life scum, the next they wave their pistols around our faces. thats the issue. who are the cops to decide who is scum and who is not scum  in the heat of the moment? trigger happy cops should be stationed on the NYc subwayy. there they can shoot all the troublemakers they like as far as imm concerned.

These cops should be given commendations.  The plan A was to taze him.  If that doesn't work, then plan B.  Shoot him.  Plan A didn't work, the K9 officer saw his partner about to get smashed, so he put the perp down.  Job well done.  For his actions, his partner will now be able to go home to his family.

As for the wieners who are crying about leg shots.  Officers are not trained to wound perps with their firearms, they're trained to end the threat as quickly as possible.  Shoot to kill.  That is exactly what happened.  They ended the threat quickly.  And for that, they all get to go home to their families.  Any firearms instructor will tell you the same thing.  You never pull the trigger on someone unless you're trying to kill them.

I love happy stories like this.

For those commenting on the cops actions after the shooting.. Keep in mind they're without a doubt going threw fight or flight reactions. They were probably unaware of what they were doing due to the massive amounts of adrenaline, excitement, and nervousness. You have no idea how many thoughts come rushing into your head after a shooting, let alone what your body's going threw. ''Did I make the right decision, what are the consequences going to be, am I going to be sued,I just ended a life, fuck now I gotta do paperwork, fuck now I gotta do overtime.''
''honey I wont be home tonight, is she gonna be fucking some other dude? FUCK

what did you think about the jacked up cop, having just smoked some guy, carrying his gun around in his hand, in that agitated state, when there were 10 other cops on the scene keeping their weapons holstered?

I can understand shooting the leg isn't the smartest.
Not arguing the shooting. Just think it was a little bit too many shots. But maybe he wanted to die. When he was on the ground he could have used the dog instead of 4 more shots etc.

Why would the cop that shot the tazer aim for the head? Do they learn that in training? isn't it smarter to try and make sure both darts connects?

firing at the legs means more potential ricochets on the ground... obviously you guys have no clue about ballistics or secure firearms use, simply cause you never ever had a gun in your hands for that matter. Just talking out of your asses like neutered unemployed teens with no father figures raised by single moms. Real life isnt a video game you turds.

If you watch you'll see his attack is a little weird. It looks like he just wanted to scare the cop who was too close to him. He takes a step closer, stops right there, boom boom boom boom boom.  ???

Hmm, that sounds like a sound game plan.  I'm gonna scare these armed cops with a crowbar.  That'll show em who's boss.

Cops aren't here to decipher your intentions , you act like you're gonna attack don't be surprised when they shoot you.

'm actually surprised there are so many retards here chastising the cops.

Don't want to get shot?  Don't motion like you are going to swing a fucking crowbar at a cop when they have their guns drawn, especially when you are within feet of them and they have already tried to subdue you with non-lethal force.

I wonder how many of these retards would feel the same way if this guy was about to swing a fucking crowbar at their mother.  Would they still say they should just shoot for the legs?  Or just try and tackle him?

Gross lack of critical thinking once again at GB.

The most upsetting thing to me about this video is that the assholes filming it couldn't turn on their windshield wipers so we could see what the fuck they are filming.

LOL at all the idiots in here who have never handled a gun (Unemployed hobbit) try holding a dog back and shooting at someones leg who is moving around with one hand and see how easy it is to hit, even at 10 feet.
