I've been a member since 2005? Okay, I'd like to share something. I got laid off today. It still hasn't sunk in....not sure what to think. So give me your best shot, act like an asshole because it'll probably give me a nice laugh I hope.

P.S. I wouldn't wish this upon anybody bros regardless of age.
Take 24-48 hours to lick your wounds and feel sorry for yourself. Then start looking for another job. I do not know what kind of work you do, but in my experience a personal contact, word of mouth, or networking is the best way to find a job. You must start tapping your network to get the word out that you are looking for employment. Ultimately, you want to have allies within a company or organization looking on your behalf and/or forwarding openings to you as they come up-–but before they are necessarily publicly advertised.
Obviously, you will need a polished résumé ready to go and a digital (pdf) version as well. In fact, depending on your experience and the kinds of positions you are looking for you may need several different versions of your résumé. In my organization, we do not accept paper résumés. Everyone who applys for a job here does so online and a pdf or a pasted résumé is required.
I hope you have a nest egg. And a positive mental attitude.
