Telling people to pull their socks up just builds resentment.  They'll nod and smile and be worse than ever.  And befriending the resident fuckup sends the wrong message to the rest of the staff.

Besides, it's not like he's someone with unique knowledge or skills by the sound of it.  He's just some papershuffler.  You can replace half those idiots with a well built spreadsheet and voicemail.

im not saying dont fire him its a mistake, im saying consider it, it helped me quite a bit

I soon realized that if I was ever going to get rid of him, I first had to get rid of my own boss.  Believe it or not, I managed to do that!

So you have just admitted to being an employee not to be trusted by a supervisor?

I've been a member since 2005? Okay, I'd like to share something. I got laid off today. It still hasn't sunk in....not sure what to think. So give me your best shot, act like an asshole because it'll probably give me a nice laugh I hope.

P.S. I wouldn't wish this upon anybody bros regardless of age.

That's shitty to hear.  Where do you live?  If you're in Western Canada, and have any type of industrial skill(s), you can find a job in the oilsands pretty easy.  If your a drug addict I wouldn't bother though.  They test regularly.

how can I say this, the satisfaction of flipping someone and getting them on your side is much greater than firing them, but beyond that there is a long term advantage. you gain loyalty from that employee and this gives you leverage and in general makes you a more effective manager

I think you are mistaken in this.  Donald Trump did not land a prime time series based on getting dumb employees on his side.  My foolish employee has had this coming for a long time and several people my office will thank me when I show him the door.

Exactly.  My own boss did that with this particular employee and that is how I ultimately got her fired!  ;D

It appears you have misunderstood me. I don't need him on my side; I don't want him on my side.  I have zero respect for this loser and just want him gone.  I'm sorry for the problems in his personal life (I believe he has some health issues too), but everyone has personal problems.  That is not an excuse for poor performance at work.  He is toast!

Exactly!

I agree, all losers should be fired, i refuse to babysit losers in my business, i have a one strike policy.
I have seen many losers cry, i dont feel any regret.
