Men Punch Out Temple Cops On Video

Disturbing cell phone shows a crowd in North Philadelphia turning on two Temple police officers.

One officer was so concerned for his life and the life of his partner, he pulled out his gun.

The incident started when a Temple bike officer bumped into a man on the street at 16th and Montgomery on Wednesday afternoon and it was all downhill from there.

The brawl caught on tape that's already attracted over 100,000 viewers online. .

It started with a brief encounter and quickly turned into a full fledged brawl after two temple police officers tried to make an arrest Wednesday afternoon and the tables quickly turned on them.

Onlookers videotaped it and posted on worldstarhiphop.com.

While one officer was talking to one of the young men, another man came over and punched him in the face.

Temple University says when two officers tried to question 19 year old Rodney Ganbrell at 16th and Montgomery, he started the struggle.

The officers were pushed out into the street and then went to the ground as one officer finally pulled his gun.

Fraternal Order of Police President John McNesby saw the video. He says this is what polic officers in Philadelphia have to deal with everyday.

Temple police charged Ganbrell with aggravated assault and other crimes. Investigators hope to identify the second man in the attack.

The officers are fine, with no major injuries.

Ganbrell had not made bail, and he has one prior arrest according to court records.

This will become more popular when people fight back the cops , and then the cops will just start shooting people and then it wont be so popular anymore.

People are obviously getting tired of police state and are step by step beginning to stand up !!

Many governments and officials in world today have forgotten they work for people - not vice versa.

Man...some people just have zero respect for the uniform (any uniform even military..etc) until they need them.

Got no problem with people "voicing" their opinion to the face of an officer, but it makes zero sense to touch them. Zero.

As soon as you touch anyone you are showing you want "control". Cops just doing their jobs.

The individuals need to understand they can't just go around like this. In florida they'd all be shot by a concealed weapons carrying civilian helping the cops out. Get a key to the state for it too.

Ill reserve judgment as I havent seen the video... but Police now days seem to try and question and detain people for no reason whatsoever other than their suspicions, which flies in the face of our countries "innocent until proven guilty" ideal.
If he was being questioned for no reason then he had every reason to resist, officers should not be able to arrest someone just because they dont like being questioned with no evidence of wrongdoing.

What a ridiculous post. Police state? What do you want for an alternative? A police-less state? Go to places like Colombia, Nigeria or Chiapas and see how that works for you. It's very easy to trash the police because they ocasionally give you a hard time for driving at 100 mp/h or getting drunk and loud in public, but without them all the scoundrels and vile bastards would be wetting their fingers thinking about you and your loved ones.
