'warrior' is this generations 'rocky'
« on: January 30, 2012, 08:21:21 PM »
high praise indeed. and very much deserving of it. it could have been a cliche ridden cheesefest. what it is , is a rock solid drama. superb acting from all the main cast. an extra bonus was the excellent fight scenes.

probably didn't go down well with the tapout warriors. never mind . they can watch 'never back down', again  :D

i still like 'rocky' better though  8)

One of the best fighting movies ever BUT
calling it this generations Rocky is a little much.
It is a much better movie (Warrior) than it's box
office numbers show so it will have to pick up a lot of
steam by word of mouth if it's going to be remotely
close to attaining Rocky status.

Tom Hardy...

Dreamy!

Caught a glimpse of him in the movie Warrior and to say that my remote appeared to have been submerged in Greek yogurt is an understatement...

Can't wait for the new Dark Knight movie!

Have at 'em ladies..

It's the storyline, characters and acting that make this a great movie
although the fighting scenes are very good. (Much more than an MMA
action flick.)

oh, the fights in this are much better than real life ufc shit.

the mma stuff is secondary to the story involving the family. quite moving in some scenes.

I hate MMA and I love Rocky but this is a much better film than Rocky 1 and my favorite film from 2011, you owe it to yourself to see it.

I agree with you Bradi.  This was a rich and compelling film that brought two grown men (My husband and I) to tears when one of the brothers (Tom Hardy's character) was facing his worst enemy (himself) inside of that octagon.  Haunted with his biggest fears, along with an unhealthy dose of post-traumatic stress disorder, that young man brought that character to life.

It was an extremely well made movie that could have garnered international fame if it were not for the fact that it didn't have enough big names with the exception of (Nick Nolte).

i mean in regards to the quality of the acting, storyline and emotional involvement. also, i don't think a film this good based around mma will ever be made again.

i gotta say that i went into this movie totally cold. i instantly dismissed it on release as soon as i saw the word 'warrior' and it was a film about mma. so it was a very pleasant surprise that it turned out to be excellent.

'Warrior' was OK. It's not of 'Rocky' caliber.

Tom Hardy's best was 'Bronson'.

Looking forward to seeing him in Batman, though.

MI4 was good.

Warrior was average at best.  Almost no charachter development, the plot was obvious and badly written.  It was easy to watch as it was so simple but I think it shows more about the failure of holywood to produce may movies of true quality these days if people are talking about this film and thinking it's of a high quality.

Roll your eyes all you like but that doesn't mean im wrong.
Please point out where the charachter development was?  The story was choppy and had no flow and everyone in it was completley 1 dimensional.

I liked the movie a lot. They could of had some better training scences though. Rocky had the best training scenes of any movie.
