oh brother the participation rate has increased overall in the united states that is the number of people willing to work has increased. Why unemployment is still high is a multifaceted thing, automation clearly has an effect, if you replace human jobs with efficient self automated machines then there are less jobs. The fact that the participation rate is increasing yet the workforce is decreasing or not budging is because there are not enough jobs, or people are taking to much for themselves at the top, cutting out lower middle class.

Automation does not kill a NET amount of jobs. In other words, the amount of efficiency that automation creates through lower costs creates way more jobs than it kills. With all due respect Andre, you almost made me fall out of my chair when I read that post.

Gets people to places faster. Allows people to buy more things at once because they dont have to carry them, which increases economies of scale for grocers, which allows them to decrease costs, which gives people more disposable income, which creates more jobs because they spend more. Jobs and prosperity depends on allocating resources efficiently. Automation allows that.
