Well, its time for a car here in the next couple months, and its time for a hot rod. I'm in the market for a used 5.0 Mustang, SS Camaro, or R/T Challenger. The SRTs and GT500/Shelby's are a bit out of my price range though unfortunately. I've test driven all 3 and here's what I thought.....
5.0 Mustang - the best of the bunch. Awesome interior, great performance. Able to get it supercharged with a factory warranty. This is the highest quality vehicle and the only one made in the US.
Cons - Its a mustang...no one looks at it twice and are just too damn common. The domestic Ricer.
SS Camaro - The 6.2 LS3 is a fuckin' BEAST. This motor has been making 800 HP from a supercharger with no other supporting mods reliably. Arguably the best car to mod and easiest to make stupid fast.
Cons - Horrible interior, no visibility, and car looks dumb when viewed from a few angles. And it has that stupid Cadillac "crease."
R/T Challenger - GORGEOUS. The only one of the 3 I drove where random people would crane their necks to look(I test drove a yellow one). It is also the most comfortable ride, essentially it is a 2 door Charger/300 since they are all built on the same chassis with the Chally being a scant 4 inches shorter. I really like the attention it gets, however. I got stopped twice from people just wanting to take a closer look at it.
Cons - It is pig heavy. Performance leaves a lot to be desired, nowhere close to Mustang or Camaro but moves out ok. Interior is the same as a Jeep and about 10 other Chrysler products....unacceptable ...it'd look good back in 2003 or so, but not by today's standards. The Mexican-made 5.7 Hemi has few mod choices and expensive to do so.
