voter registration in the US is funny
I's not funny, ...it's just plain stupid. I don't understand the point of telling the candidates or public bureaucrats who you are voting for. It's almost as ridiculous IMO as some parts of the ME, where one literally wears their political affiliation on their heads in the form of whatever coloured turban they choose to wear, ...so political opponents can spot you a block away?
in the US, people register and broadcast their political affiliation to those with the power to abuse whatever power, authority or ability they may have to retaliate against them.
Personally, I prefer the Canadian way. People don't have to broadcast their political affiliation if they want to keep it private. They just get in that ballot station and anonymously cast their vote complete with a valid paper trail. Candidates need not know WHO you supported in the last election or who you intend to support in the next one.
