As I've been saying, the Bush deficits were caused by OVERSPENDING, not tax cuts.

Look when spending skyrocketed - it was when pelosi took over in 2007 w reid.

Its not bush alone who caused this.

Bush is largely at fault...

Federal spending as a percent of GDP:

Here, BTW, is tax revenues as a percent of GDP:

So had Bush kept spending at 18% of GDP, we would've had budget surpluses for the majority of Bush's two terms. Which, BTW, had he only increased spending to keep up with inflation and population growth, spending as a percent of GDP would have been down below 18%.

The problem with Bush was:
- Two wars and nation building
- Creation of an extensive security state
- Medicare Part D ($17 trillion in unfunded liabilities)
- Massive expansion of non-security related discretionary spending (e.g. Depts of Ag and Ed)
- Failure to reform Social Security and Medicare

Again - the congress is equally at fault here.   I'm not giving Bush a pass, but we need to be realistic here, had the demos wanted to control spending in 2007 -2010 - they would have done so.

Bush vetoed ZERO spending bills in his 8 years in office.

so while we all agree dems are spend happy cvntflaps, the repubs are supposed to be the ones who stop it.  Prez has veto poewr and could have stopped most of it.

agreed.  i dont think you'll see spending change one bit with romney or newt.

to be fair, obama has only delivered 787 bil in stimulus spending.  Bush spent 3 trillion in 8 years.  This is bigger than dem/repub.

Obama is running a 1.5 trillion deficit every year and entitlement welfare spending is exploding as per obamas instructions.

i was comparing stimulus spending.

if you want to talk about overall got spending, hey, the same thing applies.  repubs stomped their feet and nearly shut down the govt, and then agreed to 385 million in cuts.  Bravo.

They're all on the spending team.

Jesse Jackson: 'It's an Honor to Be a Food Stamp President'

Jesse Jackson: 'It's an Honor to Be a Food Stamp President' By Mike Bates Created 02/26/2012 - 6:36pm

Weeks ago, Jesse Jackson accused GOP presidential candidate of "name calling" for referring to President Barack Obama as the "best food-stamp president in American history." But Saturday morning at his Rainbow PUSH forum, broadcast nationally on the Word Network, Jackson appears to have decided that being characterized that way isn't so bad after all.

As he often does, Jackson directed (video here) the audience to repeat his words of wisdom on the subject:

Say, it's an honor to be a food stamp president. Food stamps feed the hungry. Food stamps save the children. Food stamps help the farmer. Food stamps help the truck driver. Food stamps help the warehouse. Food stamps help the store. Food stamps hire people and feed people. Food stamps save people from starvation and malnutrition. Whenever you attack feeding the hungry, you undermine the moral authority of our faith. Give President Barack Obama a big hand. Show your love. Show your appreciation.

So is what Gingrich called Obama an insult or a plaudit? It's unlikely the mainstream media will ask Jackson the question or if he truly believes it's an honor for a president to oversee the addition of more than 10 million people to the food stamp rolls. The sensitive souls who report our news loathe ever putting the Most Reverend Jackson on the spot.
