Obesity could be the US's next national security threat
« on: February 13, 2012, 02:38:51 AM »
In the U.S. the obesity epidemic is growing, with around 75 percent of Americans now considered overweight. And as waistlines across the country swell out, so do the pockets of big corporations, who every year make millions from the fattening of America. First Lady Michelle Obama warns that obesity could be the next national security threat - with one in four adults unable to serve in the military because they're overweight. Now she's leading by example - keeping herself physically fit and teaching children the importance of healthy eating. Obesity costs the U.S. Department of Defense 1.1 billion dollars a year, and that looks unlikely to improve, as big corporations continue to choose profit over quality.

Don't worry.  I'm sure the "War on Obesity" will soon be declared.

It just doesnt fit into my tiny brain how they let themselves get into that stage...I mean, this problem has been around for decades and now they start to really react.

Good for her, I am not an Obama fan, or her for that matter because she seems like a bitch, but it needs to be done. The majority of Americans are fat and embarrassing.

You know this country is irreversibly broken when the First Bitch says obesity is a problem because it prevents people from joining the military, of all the reasons why it's not optimal

Of course, to our Government which has ended us anything that doesn't get people dependent upon it is enemy #1

Won't matter, soon the human soldier will be replaced by AI Death Machines. All those drones they use today is the beginning of this.

I dont see the situation improving to be honest.most americans escpecialy young white males 17 up to early 30s are interested in video games and tv sports for most part.maybe the only excuse for sports fanatics is unless they were atheltes they wouldnt need to be in shape.

Most of the food here is complete shit.  Full of chemicals, preservatives, high in fat, high in sodium, full of sugars, etc.  And like the article said then the companies making garbage this get rich and as a result pharma companies get even more rich selling their drugs.

Finding good healthy organic foods that are not full of crap is possible in America, but it is much more expensive.  I think the government here wants to keep you sick and unhealthy as a means of control.  If they cared about your health lots of this shit wouldn't even be permitted to be manufactured.  Most of fast food, processed food, and majority of what is created I wouldn't feed to my dog.

Well that would mean you have a choice in what you put into your body if hormones were legal again.  And you can try to achieve some level of health with responsible usage.  Instead we are not treated like adults for that topic.  Our stupid government has made the choice for us.

But hey they allow things like alcohol, tobacco, known poisonous narcotic prescription pain killers, known liver destroying Tylenol, trans fats that just plug up your veins, and millions of other toxic chemicals that slowly kill you.   But steroids for health... oh that is the devil in USA.  Our government is retarded!

not that im downing anyone who smokes it but pot now is practically mainstream in the us.i really find it hard to see hormones becoming this way.perhaps like gh15 said we could settle for a climate like the 70s and 80s and we could be better off.
ive said for the longest the whole issue of hormones is very easy for the american population to be against.
they are ignorant of it and very fat.
bb,powerlifting etc will probably never be noticable in the culture like the 70s and 80s again.
the us population just doesent connect with it.
