Best Heel

Who in your opinion was the best heel?

For me, toss up between Snake and Rude. I think Rude's porno stache just gave him the look..

Rude was a great heel, and in the time I watched him, he always played one.
There were times you almost wanted to see him turn face, but his character stuck to his guns and played the evil-doer.

I also loved Macho as a heel - and, maybe I should specify: his early heel work.
His promos indicated that he actually believed he was justified in doing everything he did, from mistreating Liz to using foreigh objects and grabbing his opponents tights for a pinfall.
He also made legitimate points that validated his skills. For instance, he would talk about never using Elizabeth for outside interference like other wrestler/manager tandems.
He'd also go on about his tremendous athleticism, etc., which you certainly could not deny after watching just one of his matches.

To top it all off, many of his heel promos were hillariously entertaining; much more so than after his face turn in late '87. Although, some of those promos he recorded with Sherri during the "Macho King" years were quite amusing. I remember one they did with Zeus behind a steel cage panel, and Sherri started climbing up the cage, then snuck around to the front. Classic stuff!

I miss pro-wrestling.

Ding ding ding....we have a winner.

Funny thing is, I always liked WWF better than NWA/WCW but enjoyed Sat Night TBS wrestling in the small studio where wrestlers would come out to the podium, cut their promo and 5 feet away was the ring.

The last really great heel IMO, was Triple H from late 99 until he tore his quad. Incredible crowd heat, great work with Jericho, Taker, Rock...Some of the best all around work in the history of the company. Just when you thought he couldn't pull anything else, he took it to another level.

True, I dont think there are any 100% pure heels, they are either tweeners or Faces.

Rude & Dibiase stand out for me, never changed to face whilst actively wrestling at their peaks and had that ability to just make you hate them with everything you had. Great wrestlers also, Dibiase has to be in with a shout with being one of the greatest of all time - the look, the mic skills and his ability were all top top draw.

DiBiase's ring work was solid; technically very good.

My only criticism is that he never wrestled "dirty" enough as a heel. He kept everything textbook. It would have been nice to see him kick someone in the balls or do more sneaky, underhanded stuff.
He did occasionally employ some of those tactics, but IMO, he should've borrowed a bit more from Flair's notebook of "Dirtiest Player In The Game."

Should have seen his Rat Pack work in mid-south with the loaded glove instead of the cartoon WWF horseshit.

Andre was a great heel.

earned major heat for his choke out attacks on Hogan, Warrior, Hacksaw etc.

I agree Savage was a great heel, better as a heel than a face.

I also thought Big Boss Man was a great heel.

Andre was a great heel.

I think it was easy and natural for Andre to be a heel.
It doesn't sound as if he cared much for "the public."

Great shout! When he turned on the Union and revealed himself as the Higher Power i was so pissed, i mean literally i was screaming at the TV ha ha. Great character but im not sure how much it differs from the real Vince McMahon, which is quite an interesting thought....

I was actually at that show, the arena was livid. I remember a lot of speculation that it was going to be Jake Roberts or the Million Dollar Man. The best thing about him was he always ended up getting way worse than he gave. This is one of my favorite pictures ever:

Even though he's the boss. VKM has always been one of the best performers. Who has ever been more hated in the Federation the VKM. He pushed 3:16 over to superstardom.

The vignettes he did with Foley were the best for my money!
He mastered an entirely new aspect of selling. Not many guys can demonstrate such expert, voluntary control of their adam's apple.

YES!! From this time frame!!!

There was another one he did that stands out in my feeble mind to this day: the one where the old man injured his ankle. The camera zoomed in on his face, and all of the sudden, you saw this harry arm come into the frame and start stuffy hardtack candies in Vince's breast pocket. Then, Mick's hand emerges again; this time with a fountain drink!
PRICELESS!!!

Apparently, Vince & Foley were shooting a pre-recorded vignette in the early stages of Mick's comedic tenure. I don't remember the line, but Mick's response caused Vince to crack up and they had to stop filming and re-shoot. Foley apologized, but Vince told him, "No. It's great. From now on, don't tell me what you're going to do ahead of time. I'll just react to it!"
Those stand out as some of the last, great, entertaining wrestling promos in my book.
It's just my opinion, but nothing since has come close in sheer entertainment value.

Right now I don't know if there truly any "Hate your guts" heels. Cody Rhodes maybe but I also like Wade Barrett

As many have said...I miss wrestling..
