I'll tell ya what. Beyeke could have easily won this show if he showed up ripped. Give him another year or two...as long as he doesn't turn into a Samuel Savior S-something, he could get up there.
Ever since the days of Ronnie, the genetics have become more and more concentrated into less critieria. Today's top guys are nothing but 'parts'...nothing flows.
There are very few people out there who are stupid enough (surprisingly) who would willingly do what needs to be done to be a top competitive bodybuilder. I'll point to Phil Heath because as far as I'm concerned, he's the only legit guy out there right now. The only guys who come close are the mass monsters who don't have the shape required, only raw mass.
So you get what you had here last week, which is the way they wants it!
We're going through the worst lull in truly impressive physiques in decades. Dexter, had he been in better shape, should have destroyed these pretenders. There's a big difference between his generation and today.
Why can't any of these guys come in the extreme condition that they should be?...don't they realize this is the Arnold?
And Wolf...forget about this guy. If his unsymmetrical mess of a body is what's considered top notch, well, I don't know what to tell you.
I do however think that Branch has the best story to tell, and I admire the hard work he does. But no way is he anywhere near a Mr O calibre physique, yet now he's won the Arnold...twice.
What the hell is going on? People are wising up to this crazy sport, and nobody with the right genetics (the new Flex Wheelers, Kevin Levrones, Dorians, the list goes on) would consider ruining their health for this cult of a sport. No WAY Branch is like a modern Dorian. No WAY this top three could beat the like of Wheeler, Levrone or even Nasser.
Too many pro cards given to too many guys who really don't have the genetics to live up the champs of the past.
