Chiropractors
« on: March 04, 2012, 03:42:25 PM »
Anyone have any experience with chiropractors here?

I've had some nagging lower back pain from an injury I had in 2009. Long story short, I twisted my back playing soccer and following that I did a few leg workouts and ended up fucking shit up from deadlifting. Got an MRI which showed nothing, but I did some phys therapy which helped but the pain always comes back when I start working out again.

I don't want to give up soccer, or leg training.. and I suspect the physical therapist won't help, so I was considering going to a chiropractor. I don't even know if my insurance will cover it, but if it helps with quality of life its worth the price (hopefully).

They seem to help, but in my opinion, they are a temporary fix at best.

I used to feel like a million bucks walking out of my old Chiros office..........afew days later,I had the same aches and pains as always.

yes, lower back, one time fucked it up mowing the lawn.  ::)   was bed ridden for about a week. went to chiro, was walking shortly thereafter and resumed full activity after 3 weeks

other time ( several years after first) pulled something at work, not nearly as bad as the first time,  but went to chiro and felt good after a week or so.

my back is fine , still do heavy DL and squats

There's not really any science behind what they do but if you're having pain that won't go away and it's within your budget, may as well give it a try.  It seems to work for some.

I go once every 3 weeks. It's started with twice a week now I'm doing maintenance. I have a bad neck it hurts like hell all of the time. I had a pinched nerve I think. He took an xray of my spine. The cervical spine should have a bit of a curvature. Mine is completely straight! He hasn't seen one as straight as mine before. The appointment starts with a 45 minute massage. God It's amazing. They have about 5 professional massage therapists on staff. They're all different and great. I get a deep tissue massage. They get every single knot out of my back. It's rejuvenating feels amazing. After that I get a heating pad on my neck with electric stim. Then I get an adjustment. My insurance is pretty good so I only pay 10 dollar co pay. Should be 20 but I've gotten 2-3 other people to go and he cuts me a deal. He's a real good guy. I would highly recommend it. Make sure you get the massage though that's really the best part I wouldn't go if they didn't have it.

Imo the massage is really the crucial part. It gets blood flowing to the injured areas gets you loosened up. It does more for me than the actual adjustments.

Thanks for the reply. I have the same opinion of physiotherapists to be honest. I don't feel like going through another month of therapy with no solid end result.

That's too bad. Why is the lower back so prone to injury?

You have neck pain but come out with a free back rub?  ???  Suspicious... just kidding  ;D
Is the massage part of the treatment, or extra? Fuck yea man, a massage sounds amazing. I don't have any muscular pain though, so I don't know if it would help with the pain  >:(  Appreciate the reply bro.

I used one on and off for years for a neck issue.

Absolutely helped, big time.

Now be careful though, many chiros are wackos that claim they can cure allergies and other ailments like ADD etc.

Stay FAR away from these fuckers. Also ONE adjustment a week is enough. ONE.

Wasn't going to chime in, but you may want to look up some of the research.  Invariably this is going to just turn into a shitty thread.....

How about those men oiled up thongs this past weekend?  ((no homo))
