That nothing...

One time, (ironically also in Egypt), I watched a guy swimming in the wrong part of the lake, right where a Motorboat was.... well, the guy starts to come up for a breath and his head goes right into the propeller.  I've never seen so much blood in my life, he was rushed to the hospital but I don't think he made it.

Hardest thing I've ever had to watch.

Its really hard to see anybody snorkling from a boat, have been many times in egypt snorkling and diving - this is an unfortunat incident.

he might have heard a boat but you don't know were its comming from, you just don't expect somebody to drive his boat right at you, in the water its different than on land everything takes a bit longer to react - lifting your head - moving out of the way etc.

Don't worry as long as you stick to the shore line you will be fine, very little chance anything can happen to you and its amazing fun.

I have done pretty much the same tour these guys have done, they take you on a ship bring you a little off shore maybe to some of the islands they keep for tourists were you get good buffeet and all, and they let you snorkle a little more off shore as you would usualy do, deeper water and more chance iof seeing some good big fish.

Why are you wearing a life vest when you go snorkling? Are you not able to swim?

It is to be seen, that is why it so bright.
FYI, don't think I would go snorkeling out in the middle of a coral reef if I couldn't swim. ::)

punish those with swimmer's physiques.

this never would have happened if that man was under the squat rack, instead of being under water.

Have boaters and snorkelers forgotten the plight of the humble Manatee ?

.

Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Seriously RIP to that fellow.

I'm from Egypt and I highly suggest you cancel your plans.  Seriously, I advise anyone who is thinking about going to Egypt right now to cancel.  The government is in a state of limbo, the violence is still going on, westerners are really not welcomed (contrary to what you may here), crime is at an all time high, even the US Ambassador just fled the country out of safety concerns.  http://bikyamasr.com/61489/egypt-protests-force-us-ambassador-out-of-country/
