ok, you win. in this situation that is correct. i do own a gym, and have been to many more in my life. i have replaced my dumppell set four times in the 20 years i have owned it. every time, the weights come from the factory with numbers painted on the dumddells equivolent to the weight of the plates only. i should have disclaimed that that may not be the case in every set in every gym in the world, but as a general rule, that is how they are labelled. i have the hex dummmells as well, and they are the true weight as listed. wasn't trying to be a know it all, just trying to explain to the thread starter why they seemed heavier.
and as i thought it was obvious by the way i spelled dumbbbbells the first time, i am intentionally mispelling it since you earlier pointed out that it had been misssppellled. a poor attempt at humor i guess.
