I laugh at the sheer ignorance when folks fail to believe a fella of Hugo's size and sport background can walk onto a bodybuilding stage weighing almost 300 pounds.
Who cares what Ronnie's top weight was?
Fact is, a great many (whites especially) with such lengthy background in pure strength sports often become EXTREMELY heavy, excluding the fat/heft intrinsic to such athletic endeavour. Incredibly thick, both in muscle and connectve tissue, and dense, dense, DENSE bones.
While Ronnie lifted heavy and had lots of thick muscle, one has to remember he didn't usually train like a dedicated strength athlete, and he also for decades deprived his body of maximal caloric intake, etc. In other words, yes, he never allowed himself to become too fat. Like it or not, this will hamper total overall size potential.
He also is black, and everyone should know the average black has more volume to his muscles, but usually less propensity towards muscular density and overall thickness.
