Limbaugh Tells Advertisers Who Want To Return To Pound Sand

Looks like the controversy is dead and the advertisers that grandstanded and left want to return.


“The rift between Sleep Train Mattress Centers and Rush Limbaugh apparently became permanent today after Limbaugh reportedly turned aside the Sacramento retailer’s attempt at a truce. Limbaugh rebuffed Sleep Train’s request that the controversial radio host resume his duties as a paid spokesman for the company.”



Limbaugh, through his spokesman Brian Glicklich, turned aside Sleep Train's attempts to resume advertising on the show.

"Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh's character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the Future."

Dale Carlsen, head of Sleep Train, issued a statement saying: "We confirm that Rush Limbaugh will no longer be one of Sleep Train's radio endorsers."

He justifies what he said, passing it off as being humorous, etc. Then he goes off on a ego ridden tangent, about "what he does". An apology is this: "Im sorry, I was wrong. I am embarassed, I don't know the woman, I went overboard. It won't happen again."

but, nooo, it had to be him justifying his words...words that he rode for 3 days.

It's like a drunk who causes a collision and sends someone to the hospital, "I shouldn't have bee drinking, but I was trying to illustrate to the public the dangers of driving drunk, and this person happened to be at the red light. Why is this person at an empty intersection at 2 am?"

(nor do I follow Rush either). There is the issue that He states that the sponsors who left are doing it to "hurt" his listeners, so he makes them out to be the bad guy. When in fact, had he not said what he said, they (the sponsors) would still be there.

The fact is, he needs to keep his ego in check, (and so does Bill), allow them to run off at the mouth again, they hinder themselves. It's like they have no "governors" on their mouths. In the last few months there have been some great marketing lessons: Starbucks and Rush being great examples. The left is loud and active but they are a minority in this nation, and they tend to be useless eaters and not the producers and are less likely to spend money on 2K beds, internet storage and flowers.

My grandfather had a saying, "Words are like bullets, you can't take them back", some people need to take heed.

so...one can look at it like this, either you don't say things that you know will do damage, or when you do say something, make sure you have a full clip and do some damage.
