Elite waist genetics.
Buchanan, Oliva, Reeves, Flex, few others.
Average is the wrong word but it wasn't in the highest group.
Obliques were a little blocky, twisted a lot in his poses.
But he had a small waist, the 80's lineup isn't structurally very good however.
It wasn't tiny.
Average was the wrong word and I'll bet Zane's waist is just as small as anyone you mentioned but their tapers were more exaggerated but ALL were heavier , to be more fair you would have to compare Zane to someone around the same weight to more accurately gauge if it's ' average '
Compared to someone like Samir who was 188lbs in 1983 , Zane's waist was much smaller
And how can you type he was structurally very good? the hallmarks of a great structure. small waist & hips , wide clavicles , small joints , height etc , Zane has a great structure coupled with great muscle balance & proportion which in turns gives him the illusion of being bigger and a harmonious arrangement of muscles that all compliment the other , what more can you honestly ask for?
Wolf has an outstanding structure but his balance & proportion suck , Reeves had an outstanding structure and his balance & proportion were outstanding as well , Zane was like Reeves on a smaller scale like Labrada
