Well, they were guard dogs/alsatians/rottweilers and none of them died but they were definitely poisoned on a few occasions or beaten badly, I only remember this vaguely because it happened when I was younger, about 10/12 years old. Impossible to prove which guys did it from what family really at the time.

Everytime there's a funeral or wedding of theirs, ALL the pubs in the town will be on high alert or close early. They can't be controlled, they might start off okay by twisting your arm "oh there's only a few of us out for a quiet drink, we won't do any harm" and a few drinks later they're throwing stools at each other. Then the barman is discriminating against them by throwing them out and they go crying to the papers. There is some of them that are OK alone though. It's just when there's a group of them they won't respect anything.

Plus + who really wants to start a feud with a traveler family?
I mean the whole gang thing in general is out of control right now anyways, friend of mine yesterday who i work with showed me pictures he's taken yesterday out of his front window, Bomb Squat - with the Bot - and armed garda - you heard it in the news - somebody was throwing pipebombs through the window of some old guys family.

imaging what the knackers are going to do to you if you ever start a feud with them.

Another thing they did was, if the place was closed they'd go up near the compound and try and feed the dogs or pat them through a fence or get to know them a bit. Especially if it was a new dog as we had to change our guard dogs quite a lot because some were just not fierce enough. You'd know they were doing this because if you drove by you'd see them and tell them to fuck off

What i love most about the gypos is that due to a combination of their tax-dodging, avoidance of all other state payments and general dodgy dealings they all drive brand new Mercs, BMWs and 4x4s.

We had a site here, were they were living on illegaly, never paid for the space and after 20 years of living there the Irish government paid them all a couple of millions to buy the space back, not kidding you.

bradford has a fairly big gypo population. most have long since been settled and intermarried with the local charvers. some of the housing estates, holmewood in particular, would remind any homesick irish fella of home. there were hosses every fucking where. there's still a few huge traveller families. not quite as fierce as they were when i was a kid but still worth being weary of..

I have dealt with them for years as has my father. His business was located directly beside a gypsy site with about 15 houses and caravans. The amount of times they poisoned our dogs with sausages and stole parts/radios/fuel.

i used to do the scrap years ago. we once stole a hundred weight of lead from some gypos. my mate was caking his pants for at least a fortnight

they were fucking great days mate. especially when it was warm. park the van up in a new area and go ratting about. more often than not you'd end up stripping an empty house for all its coppery loot 

we went to check out a long disused bus depot here in bradford. gypos were still on the roof with their unguarded lead bonanza just lying there on the floor.
