Alien prequel  

Actually it's not.. Scott wanted to do one but wasn't given enough freedom. This may seem like it is an Alien prequel but its totally different.

Cameron screwed up the direction of Alien when he took over in teh sequals making it "hollywood" and taking away from teh darkness etc

The TED video. This is actor Guy Pierce (L.A. Confidential) playing Peter Weyland. He is the founder and CEO of Weyland Industries. His company builds the ship Prometheus. His company also builds the androids we've seen in the previous Alien films. The company in the original Alien (1979) film that Sigourney Weaver and crew worked for was Weyland-Yutani. In Prometheus, Weyland is still on its own and has not yet merged with the Japanese conglomerate Yutani Industries.

Here, Peter Weyland is speaking at a TED conference talking about the Titan Prometheus giving us our first piece of technology - fire. He goes on to talk about our accomplishments and remarks that "we are the Gods now."
