the most comparable to a farmers walk i've done is walking home with both hands full of heavy bags of shopping.   :-\

seriously though. its something i've love to have a go at. along with some more strongman type training. good stuff.

I used to train at Genesis Gym in Alperton, West London where all the premier UK powerlifters and strongmen trains. Had a go at the Atlas stones. Looks easy on TV right?

L . O fucking L. Thought I was pretty strong but could barely lift the first stone.

Anyone ever do the farmers walk?  I tried it recently with 520 lbs. Was pretty difficult to keep the tubes from clicking together in the front when you walk.  Traps and back of my knees were EXTREMELY sore the next few days afterwards.

Any other getbiggers tried it?

You walked with 260 in each hand?

520 pounds?

You didn't include the weight of the ground in the calculation right

So I went down to Florida for vacation....had a great time in Disneyworld...

Went to my parent's house for thanksgiving dinner.  My stepmother wanted me to move a landscaping rock for her that they had delivered a week before.  The rock weighed 590 pounds according to the reciept from the place they bought it from.  Not only did I manage to lift this rock off the ground, i was able to carry it about 30 feet from the curb where it was dropped off to the garden next to the driveway.

No belt, no lifting straps, no chalk.

590 pound stone....an 800 lb deadlift can't be that far away.

suck on that haters  8)

even if you actually did that (which you didn't) why would anyone who's not a strongman ever want to do that lift?

just stand in place and hold the weight... or do a deadlift or a shrug and don't risk twisting a knee or pulling a bicep waddling around with weights in your hands.

I can walk far with farmer walks - the point when it gets really hard is if you have to turn ;)
