Idiots dislike Dimmu Borgir because they make a commercialized version of Black Metal, which is one of the most underground styles of music in the world. Alot of black metal fans are obsessed with upholding a dark and kvlt image for their music. Sometimes shitty production and simple repetitive songs are seen as more "true" than the complex symphonic stuff Dimmu plays.

As someone said, despite the complexity and brilliance of their music, people will still find it trendy to dislike them.

The reason a lot of serious metal heads dislike Dimmu Borgir as they also dislike slipknot it due to the fact they these bands commercialize them-self until you puke blood.
Never bothered me, I listened to them and I don't like it, its hard to put your finger at it but I think it sounds fake to me, like they are trying to hard - The black Dalia murder is another band that tries to hard.
You listen to bands like Dying Fetus - Vital Remains - or some of the good polish death metal you can hear the difference.
And there are bands out there that were amazingly successful for death metal at least and they still remain true to their fans and their music, Cannibal Corpse would be one of them but Dying Fetus have also been in the game for a long time (with the occasional band member change lol)
I don't think its hard at all to spot the poser bands these days, if the bands consists of 4 prettyish looking guys tattoos all over nose ring and skinny jeans with a name like murder for breakfast or there will be blood you know its a poser band, and with a poser band I mean a band that is primary formed to fulfill the fantasy of 14 - 16 year olds.

I have problem with all sub-genres as well- I don't understand most of it, grindcore, hardcore, porncore, gringporn death meatal blackend death metal fuck all that shit, if it sounds good I listen to it.
I even listen sometimes to folk Death metal when I need an uplift

The band name that I had for my rock band that is yet to be fully formed (I came up with this name when I was 14 or 15) is Stillborn.

This was at the beginning of the grunge era, and while I liked STP, I did not like all of the whiney bullshit that came with grunge.

I wanted to rock.

Further, even back in my early teens, I felt that my country was on a downward spiral that the "adults" were purposely ignoring or just did not see. I felt and still feel that while children are being born every day, they are not being given the same opportunity that my parents' generation had, because of guilt trip liberals focusing on the low IQ students, instead of focusing on the "cream of the crop".

In essence, because of how stifled our youth will be, they are stillborn.

I still have the lyrics from one of my first full songs, it was called "Born to Death". Lots of angst, nothing Satanic, no racist, but more than likely to be perceived as anti-liberal government. My goal was to often wear a mask of Ronald Reagan, as he was and is a hero of mine.

You might want to check Fear Factory's last album if you haven't done so already (released in 2010).
The best thing they've done since Demanufacture
