Forbes values Manchester United of England as the Most valuable sports franchise in the world...Forbes valued Man U at 1.86 Billion.. I can't not why Magic Johnson's consortium paid so much for the lackluster franchise. Last i heard the dodgers were bleeding cash

in Theory...except the next closest bid, from people who supposedly had access to the same information were outbidded by almost $800. They better know something that the others didnt if they will ever get a return on their investment

They overpaid big time..Team is valued at 800 Million-850 million , The dodgers aren't a world known club like Real Madrid, NY Yankees, Manchester united.

Let's say the dodgers generate a 30 million dollar profit this year, and 50m the next year after that.

That like a current PE of ratio of 60, and a forward PE of 40..Way to much me thinks

Plus the old owner(frank) still has the rights to the parking lots..

Maybe thats why they over paid, so that McCourt can continue to provide dodger stadium/MLB with Parking... If they bought it low, McCourt might be a dickHead (and its his right to do so) and Build Condos all over the Stadium Parking lot, good luck trying to find parking at the game after that

The padres had the highest operating income in all of Baseball in 2011...They recorded a 37 million profit...

The Padres are only valued at 400 million dollars..That's like a 10.8 PE..Which would represent a good buy.

Where this 2 Billion came from is beyond me..2 Billion is more than any sports franchise in the world is currently worth.

His group will never build a TV/Cable network similar to the Yankees before the interest and debt force them to sell at a lost.

Dodger stadium needs upgrades but it only has about 8-10 years of life left. On top of that they got sold the island but they have to rent the water around it from the old owner.

Farm system is a mess.

They have no real structure built for Asian and the Americas.

I don't know how much of his money is tied into this but it's out of his league and business history.

Blacks aren't going to baseball games or buy cable packages like they go to TGI, theaters in the hood, housing and buy services from Aetna and Aon with him getting a nice cut.

No reason from him to even bother with this deal other than ego.
