Brock Lesnar Signs One-Year Deal To Return To The WWE
Brock Lesnar UFCBrock Lesnar has signed a one-year deal with the WWE. Lesnar is in Miami and expected to make a big impact at WrestleMania 28. The former UFC champion will work multiple dates and appears to truly done with the UFC.
Retirement is a funny thing in sports and rarely do athletes stay retired or who are retired. Lesnar appears to be that rare exception to the rule. After suffering a brutal loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 140, Lesnar announced his retirement from the UFC. This new WWE deal confirms that he won’t be fighting again because there is no way the UFC would have let him make this deal if there was any chance of that happening.
The rumors started swirling on Friday about Lesnar signing with the WWE. Early reports indicated that the two sides were very close to finalizing a deal to bring back the former WWE champion. Dave Meltzer at F4Wonline.com today reports that Lesnar is in Miami and the deal is likely done.
According to Meltzer, Lesnar is in Miami with a heavy security detail. Meltzer also reports that Lesnar will wrestle a somewhat regular part-time schedule. According to Meltzer, Lesnar will wrestle more than The Undertaker yet less than what Bill Goldberg did several years ago when he was a part of the WWE. In other words, Lesnar will likely appear at least once a month barring injury for the next year.
This is a huge signing for Vince McMahon. Lesnar didn’t come cheap and will probably earn more than anyone on the roster as a base salary. Lesnar is leaving MMA as the biggest draw during his prime. Lesnar made close to $6 million in 2010 at his peak in the UFC. Lesnar fought just twice in 2010 to make that money. I can’t imagine him returning to the WWE for more dates to make less, even though the two entities are completely different animals.
The expectation is that Lesnar will play a part in the finish of the Triple H vs. The Undertaker Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania XXVIII. All rumors seem to indicate that the angle will lead into a segment on RAW this Monday night which results in a Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker match being announced one year ahead of time for next year’s WrestleMania. That said, I would not be surprised to see the WWE pull some kind of a swerve now that the cat is out of the bag.

too bad he didn't quit UFC as soon as he won the belt and then went back to rasslin. imagine the 'better than' threads that would have continued ad nauseum.

MMA is a compelte joke. Brock was ranked the #1 fighter in the world less than a year ago and people actually thought he was legit.
It doesn't matter who holds the UFC belt from now until eternity - it will always be tainted by the unskilled, scared to get punched, wwe wrestler who got a title shot with a 2-1 record.

Was a total mis-play by Dana. Of course his ego will never tell us that. He made too many millions off Brock. If Dana died tomorrow, MMA would most likely sky rocket into stratosphere...

This. It pisses me off that a POS like Brock was "handed" a title, it tarnishes everything all those fighteres have worked for. Not to mention the retards like Frank Mir who kept telling us how "legit" he was have made themselves look like total asses and lost all credibility. I remember him and a couple other UFC fighters constantly talking down about the incoming fighters like Overeem and how Brock was going to kill them, and he was so amazing, and how he was so legit... Now they just look like tools and theyre losses to Lesnar become humiliating.

MMA has peaked. it wont go mainstream because -the belt changes hands too many times it doesnt catch the general publics attention. -the skill involved is not top tier, in no sport could someone be the number one contender in a few months with a record of 3-0 much less be the champ at that stage of their career. -to be world in class bjj, boxing, judo, wrestling etc takes years of practice and skill -to be the champ in MMA just takes someone who is semi-good in a few of those and who can also take a punch. there are thousands of people with this qualification out there. its basically an evolved tough man competition.

i think it was an embarrassment for the UFC when Alistair Overeem was told to report for a steroid test..... and he packed his bags and left the country. The UFC did not hear from him for 96 hours. Alistair's recent success = mostly drugs

wake up. you will never accomplish what he did. Try going to college and win a NCAA national championship in wrestling! You probably couldnt even make the wrestling team at a major school.
