Did Robert ever work out, or was he one of "those" fans? :-\

Uh, the man worked out almost daily. I often hung with him and Johnny when they'd move some weights at day's end.

Injuries galore and these two still love pumping iron.

Bob was never "that" guy, dude. He is a man's man.

Is there any hope Mr. Kennedy can bounce back?

This...

I wrote Robert at this time with my disappointment in MMI. Surprisingly he wrote back claiming this wasn't the case and wishing me well in life. I probably still have that letter stashed away some where.

Bob scribbled notes off to anyone who wrote him. He was oldschool. It was great.

100 dollars on some hard core iron site.

Bob himself has only a few left. He gave me one many years back.

Posted today April 9th in the afternoon by his wife...

This is a sad, sad time for our family and for all of us, but I wanted to let you know about Bob’s health.  Despite his and all of our greatest efforts to fight lung cancer, it now appears that he will not be successful with his treatments, and unfortunately his condition is terminal.  At this point we do not know how long he has, but we don’t think it is very long.  He was able to meet with Arnold yesterday for a couple of hours which was an inspiration to Bob in this difficult time.  It was nice to see the sparkle in Bob’s blue eyes once again.  The two legends even flexed!

We will soon be losing a wonderful person, father, great leader and inspiration for both the Company and this industry at large.  However Bob’s life’s work, dedication and impact on bodybuilding, fitness and health and the support and inspiration to 10’s of millions of people will continue through all of you.

Your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated beyond words,

Tosca Reno

It is very sad but the one consolation he and his family have is that they will be able to say all the things to each other than need to be said. This is very important because when somebody is gone, if you didn't say all you meant to while they were alive, it can haunt you.

Kennedy is one of the best industry people in our sport.

Many people began to know bodybuilding by his magazines and learn to love it.

His way to show bodybuilding to mainstream was successful, near 40 years of Musclemag!

it´s an honour for a lot of people like me in Spain to be "born" in bodybuilding thanks to Mr Kennedy.

You´ll be always in my mind!!

Thanks to Robert for Oxygen Magazine...... the best Fitness Magazine available!  Even his editorial page is extremely motivating.   Also thank you all for the Clean Eating Mags and books.

Praying for peace and comfort for Robert, his family and friends.

Very sad news. Musclemag crew hung around alot when i was Mohammed Makkawys training partner for his 83 and 84 Olympia runs and Gladys Portuguese 84 Olympia prep. Bob was the BIGGEST bodybuilding fan ever. His magazines "Annuals" covered all contests regardless of political affiliation and had the best photos always....

Arnold visits Bob Kennedy at home
« Reply #63 on: April 11, 2012, 05:12:42 AM »

From Robert's wife this morning

At the crux of our family's most difficult days we gathered en masse to celebrate the man we love so much.  My invitation to the family members closest to Bob were "Please make yourselves available Easter Weekend to make memories with those you love."  Bob was home from the hospital so he could be loved, doted on, pampered, kissed and cherished as he rightly deserved.  My children thought I was crazy to put this on myself when there was already so much to be concerned with regarding Bob.  But I reasoned that I needed my family and that each of them had a right to give Bob that wonderful nugget of love right now. So the preparations began in earnest.  Twenty six were coming to spend 4 days with us.  It was madness but what a happy mayhem it was.  I had invited long time family friend and photographer Paul Buceta to come and record the happenings on Sunday afternoon so that we could preserve our memory making.

Everything was set.

Then something magical happened.  In the midst of the commotion, I received a call from Arnold Schwarzenegger's office that the big man wanted to come up personally and pay a visit to Bob.  I knew this would be a historic moment.  Two great men in the sport of bodybuilding and in public arena would be coming together.  And it happened.  On Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2012 Arnold arrived at our home with his brawn and a heart of gold.  I could't actually believe this was happening right here in our home amongst so much family, but it was.

When I answered the door to welcome him in, he said to me "Hmmm, what's this? Your new Easter dress?"  And from then on I relaxed as I ushered him in to greet the family and ultimately Bob.  It was difficult not to shed tears as Arnold gently held Robert's hand and began a conversation that would bring a sparkle back into my husband's blue eyes and cement their friendship forever.  The two laughed over training, women, butts (both apparently love that body part), business, the challenges of magazine making, painting and Austria.  Both men have much in common.  It did my heart good to see this exchange.  Arnold made good on his promise to visit his old friend, something I am ever grateful for and will never forget.

Arnold also gave the entire family a thrill when he wandered over to the kitchen and had wine and cheese with the gang.  Can you believe it???  My two nieces Anika and Alissa were giggling like crazy when Arnold posed for a shot with the two of them.

So Arnold, thank you and we hope you'll "be back!"

And Robert what memories we have made you and I.  Nothing about me is less because of you.  You have made me whole, loved and cherished as I have never experienced before.  What joy I will carry in my heart for having known you. I love you.

I'm very glad Arnold visited. Bob did so much for him early on in his career in North America. Always played him up (MMI's monthly Arnold feature, etc.).
