Stretch Marks
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:33:02 PM »
Not sure if this topic belongs here or not.

I have pretty bad stretch marks, as I'm sure many of you do.

I've used a few different topical treatments, Cocoa Butter, Revitol, and Strivection, all with virtually no success.

Has anyone used a product thats been effective in fading stretch marks, or is it pretty much a lost cause?

Vitamin E capsules. cut it open and squeeze the oil onto your stretch marks then rub it in. do this everyday until they go away.

I agree. It helps. Getting a bit of sun also helps.

You can buy vitamin E that's not encapsulated too.

So you guys actually experienced some fading using only Vitamin E? I'm surprised but I'll give it a try asap.

I used to worry about them, but then I put on some fake tan and my skin was flawless. 8)

Glass Gorilla, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no Vitamin e, strivectin, or any other cream, lotion, or potion is going to help you rid yourself of the stretch marks, once developed, if you continue to do the activities that gave them to you in the first place.

I got plenty of them but with time they've faded so they just blend in with my skin tone. I find that its when you're dark they tend to stand out more so I never understood the "get a tan" suggestion. Some of us are just prone to getting them and it sucks but I got most from going through puberty.

Do what my friends and I did in college: refer to them as "battle scars."
The term is slightly more masculine than "queer blotchy skin."

ditto on the vitamin e, injecting sterile saline solution can help by giving structure as the dermis is damaged. suntanning definitely helps and if you are seriously concerned you can try prescription retinoids, but thats a road i would not venture down.

I have the brutal and nothing has really helped, they extend down into my forearms and and bright red along my delts and lats, I don't use drugs either, it's silly. I just learned to get use to them and tan which reduces them by about 75% for me.

EDIT: i don't use steriods :D

Interesting. I've never heard of that!

I'm assuming you inject it directly into the affected area?
How deep?
What kind of needle?

Sorry, I have no experience self-injecting anything, and phlebotomy is a weak point with me. :)

ya just inject SubQ directly into the stretch mark. Just inject small amounts every couple of centimeters along the affected area. It helps but i just didn't have enough fucks to give to do it long term. It can be isotonic solution, it doesn't matter just as long as it's sterile. a 22-24 gauge needle will do fine depending on the extent of the scarring.

Are those "track marks?"

Yes, but it was only saline.

Oh, very good. Carry on, then.

I get them too.

I heard that Zinc also helps when applied topically, but actually I don't care about them.

Get a (fake) tan and they are gone.  ;D
