since there 18iu a vial

every 5.555... standard international unit marks on an insulin syringe is 1iu of gh {5.555... * (18) =100}

assuming 1ml of solution was used to reconstitute the GH

Welcome to my math class. 

Slin pins have 100 counts on them.  That 100=1ml of solvent.

Now if you add 1ml of solvent to a product do you have 1ml of solution?  No you might have 1.1 or 1.2 from the extra volume from the powder that dissolved.
Best rule is to mix .9 ml into the vial, this should equal almost 1ml or 100 on the slin pin.  Then divide 18/3=6 so you need to divide 100/3=33  So draw up 33 ticks on the 100 unit slin pin and that should be 6 iu.
