The Truth About Bodybuilding Supplements

is this true?

It's already been proven that the only supplements to be clinically studied with proven results are protein powder, creatine, and glutamine. Personally, all I take is Desiccated liver tablets multi-vitamins, fish oil and some enzymes so I can actually absorb more of the nutrients from my food for muscle growth. People need to seriously look at the guys from the 50's and 60's. Reg Park and Vince Gironda are great examples of drug free bodybuilders who got huge from hard work.

in before everyone says they are a waste of money.

there was a thread on pre workout supps. groink and few others stated when used for a specific purpose- like increasing energy or training intensity they serve a purpose and are worth spending the $ on if you have it to spend and i agree. but if your using pre workout supps in the hopes your going to gain any kind of lean tissue, your wasting your time. use steroids for that.

for example. i spend $60 a month on xtend, a bcaa. now, do i think its going to increase my lbm? not really. i take it cause its convenient, and when dieting i save calories i'd otherwise be taking in protein with. i like the taste, and i find my recovery time between workouts quicker. so for me spending 60 a month is worth it. now if i were spending the 60 a month on it cause i think its going to create some lean, id be wasitng my $.

yep...I ran out of it for a few weeks and my energy is not as good and I can feel the recovery drop a bit even on gear. That shit works...plain and simple. BCAA's are proven and effective and have stood the test of time

It's because these "experts" think they have all the answers, and spout shit like "how about eating food ?"

Yeah....no shit you have to eat food . but if i need some quick energy, or a quick 25grams of protein, and i don't FEEL LIKE making a fucking meal, or drinking a cup of coffee...I'll use a supplement.

hence the word "supplement"

I'm well aware that the supplement biz is 95% complete bullshit, but if you aren't an idiot, and you know what you are taking, and what it realistically will give you...there are a few things worth taking

xtend had very noticeable effects in my workouts when i did take it. probably is more useful when dieting to spare muscle.

energy drinks are for energy, protein is protein, etc. etc. but I have yet to come across evidence that multivitamins work... can anyone tell me why they take them?

I was going to ask why the fuck you are spending $60/mo on xTend....but then I recall you are in Canada and probably get raped for shipping.

Besides the basics (multi, EFA) Xtend is one of the few worthy supplements on the market today. If I could afford it, I would use a ton of it.

Nothing wrong using the basic "supplements" ... protein, creatine, glutamine, a few other BCAA's, fish oils, & multi-vitamins. They are tested and proven as efficient "supplements". The rest of the crap belongs on the nightly infomercials at 2am.

If for some spending $60 a month or even $200 is breaking the bank, because their favorite rock star convinced them otherwise that it's all drugs and not food. Go get your head examined thoroughly. If that doesn't help, opt for a frontal lobotomy.
