the doc said much protein is no problem for a healthy kidney, but for a problematic one,its best to reduce protein intake, he said to eat more carbs instead.
what is PSA, my bloodtest result is in german, so, not all terms are the same?
borracho, doc said to drink plenty of water and stay off all drugs, if this doesnt help, it will be time to see a specialist.
PSA is the acronym for prostate specific antigen. It is a common blood test to see how one's prostate is doing. Here is a link to more information about this:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/detection/PSA. Lately, there has been some controversy about the effectiveness of this test. However, at this point there is no other surefire way to check the health of one's prostate.
I assume you live in Germany from what you wrote. My son lives in Uettingen, Gemany. He's been there for over twenty-five years. It is beautiful there. His wife is German. He met her when he was first stationed in Germany. They will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2013. My wife and I are hoping to spend some time with them that summer in Germany.
My wife suffers from kidney disease as a result of type II diabetes. He doctor advised she limit protein intake from meats, such as, beef, lamb and pork. Apparently protein from eggs, cheeses, beans and soy products are not as hard on the kidneys. However, I have read were too much soy can be detrimental to some men's health raising their estrogen levels.
I am grateful that I have relatively healthy and can eat whatever I choose. I probably should limit my craving for cheeses as I do have high cholesterol, which is managed with medication.
