I insisted that he use the Qur'an, so we ended up compromising on the Bhagvat Gita

Coach trains athletes, not bodybuilders, athletes are concerned with results, not wether or not they look pretty. I guess now we know what's wrong with your chest. ;)

convict in a box, we all know coach has a specialized client base, but that doesn't stop us from busting his ass.  obviously, he's doing well, since he's in a million dollar pad in southern cal. but i don't believe a damn thing until he posts those photos of his hot softball girls.

true,

that's why gyms like planet fitness could succeed in business

Don't let it fool you, LA fitness, 24hr, Planet nutjob and gyms like it are financially eating shit and are In trouble and that includes Golds. Look at those gyms layouts, size and pricing. Basically the same gyms, same layouts, damn near the same amenities and not far from the same.pricing. low monthly memberships with a $100k +++ overhead and leveraged to the hilt.

Sure, as long as they don't mind seeing Proverbs 27:17 on the wall.

Okay, that's actually a pretty cool proverb, despite it being in a book that consists of fairy tales. Still, its a good saying  :)

I don't see things ending well on here for yagr. He's an obvious retard who can't listen or adhere to a warning. But, like most pussies on here he'll keep hiding behind his proxy like scared little girl. See ya sister, it should be at least 30 days if not indefinitely.

Because most people do CARE about how a gym looks. I mean, maybe the people you train dont care. A gym like yours in many areas would fail, since most people are not into that type of training. The average person is NOT into flipping tires. You're catering to a very specific population. With such a small subset of people who like to flip tires, its baffling how you can make money off of a gym like that. but I guess if its broke, dont fix it.

I don't understand how it's baffling - he makes money because he provides a specialty service, and he's operating with very little debt.   To make a gym look like an LA Fitness often requires tons of financing, than it's a scramble to constantly add members to offset the loan payments.  With a gym like Coach's, it will probably take a low membership rate to cover the basic costs, and the PT will all be gravy.   Plus, Coach actually loves what he does and is good at it, which only will add to the success.

Plus, the subset is not that small or specific, as warehouse gyms are popping up all over the place.  Like it or not, look how Crossfit has gained popularity - all their shit is always shown in warehouse type gyms.   I know plenty of suburban Dad types like myself who are all doing this stuff in some way, shape or form.

The giant, over sized BB gym is on it's way out.  The business model doesn't work.   Even the foo-foo Equinox gym I go to caters to this type of training.

Haha, you queers are so used to workingout (I use workout because God knows you don't train) at a shiny commercial gym with cute abductor machines and bosu balls you really have no clue. I've got equipment you've never seen and some you have no clue how to use.....like a squat rack. Hahahahaha.
One of the most serious training gyms I trained at as a young fella was an old cow milking shed with some heavy ass old equipment, the place was so beat up there were holes and floorboards would shift.  It was a beatdown piece of shit place, but it was run by a couple of evangelical Christians and charged us what we could afford.  Dudes there trained serious as hell, no showers, hardly ever a woman, just blood sweat and tears.

I just got some gym tees done for me and the other christian guys I train with - black shirt with

YOU THINK THATS HEAVY? (on the front in white).......

(On the back) TRY LIFTING THIS! (with a screenshot from passion of the christ where Jesus is carrying cross up to golgotha)

On the bottom we put John 3:16 scripture in full.

Get's a lot of attention - especially when 4 pretty big strong guys are open about Jesus and helping everyone out with their sets etc  8)

Sounds Great  ::)

And Coach's place looks just fine...those types of places are popping up all over the place these days.

fitness studios, and small group training with unconventional equipment are the way the industry is going..even LA fitness is shifting their training sales from one on one to small group, next time you guys in are at an LA fitness ,read the PT signs posted everywhere...it's all about small group training these days.

My friend is a trainer there and they are having their trainers get away from doing BBing style type workouts on machines , and incorporate full body stuff and floor work. it would not surprise me in the least if you start seeing  some machines being taken out, and being condensed... to free up floor space.

For all of the stupid fucking trolls and haters, Coach knows what the fuck he is doing.

I can't see a day when I don't head straight for the free weights, and a couple of select machines. The irony is the other day I was doing heavy military presses in the power rack, and nearby there was some little twig of a personal trainer running his client through the current brand of nonsense with some ropes. Well the client kept looking at me as I did my sets with this look in his face which said "why am I playing hopscotch with this 140 lb trainer. I want to do what the musclehead is doing with the barbell."

Same here, but we are the minority these days. "functional strength training' is what people are into, and it's the way the industry is going. They will pull every machine out of there in a heartbeat if they think it will make more money to have ropes and tires instead....And IMO it's just a matter of time.

Why buy (or lease) extremely expensive machinery that also needs to be maintained, when you can make more money with ropes, tires and cables that are dirt cheap in comparison ?

I don't think you will ever see a gym with no machines or weights, but the big box gyms will adapt to the market and give people what they want. That Crossfit shit is wildly popular, as is P90X, the "Insanity" workout, TRX cables...... all bodyweight stuff that quite simply, is more effective at losing weight. Which is what 80% of people that go to the gym want. Very few people want to be all jacked up, they want to be thin and fit

a friend of mine opened a gym in an upscale area.  NO machines besides these things called "ski-NRG" or some shit, that are mounted upright on the wall, and some rowing machines (the cardio kind)

he's got four power cages in a row a a bunch of those TRX cables hanging from them. four sets of ropes, and about 20 sandbags , with handles on them in varying weights, a few benches and a good amount of weights and dumbells, different size boxes, and dynamax medicine balls. he runs groups of 15-20 people through workouts and his classes are booked solid.

he charges $250 a month for a membership and he's doing great. He used to run gyms for Pure Fitness for 15 years, he knows his shit, and this is what he's doing. I'm actually thinking of going in with him, he's planning on opening another one soon

Maybe bodybuilding will end up back at square one: guys lifting free weights in the garage or in some dirty shithole gym, like in the forties and fifties. I'm rready, because I always keep a bench and some free weights where I live.
