The Los Angeles Lakers

Stick a fork in them,... they are DONE!

Kobe Bryant is excited about Metta World Peace's return from a seven-game suspension after failing to get much help from his other teammates in Thursday's embarrassing loss to the Nuggets.
"He's the one guy that I can rely on night in and night out to compete and play hard and play with that sense of urgency and no fear," Bryant said of World Peace. "I'm looking forward to having that by my side again." While he doesn't name names, Bryant was likely livid with the effort he got from teammates Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Ramon Sessions last night, and chose the return of MWP as a way to call them out. Game 7 is on Saturday night in Los Angeles with the series tied 3-3. May. 11 - 10:16 am et

Gasol pulled his usual post season bullshit by checking out early. Artest (I refuse to call him "Metta world peace") will be back for game 7 but they'll get rolled by Oklahoma.

Kobs is not giving the ball to Bynum because he doesn't want to see him succeed.  he wants him to look bad so they still trade him and get Dwight Howard.  Kobe has never like Bynum.

bynum had 8 touches the game before and sat the 4th last night.  Kobe is purposely leaving them out.  he wants Paul and Andrew out so they can bring in Dwight, Amare and Nash

Dwight and Nash are real possibilities.  The knicks would take Gasol for Stoudemire for sure.  Especially if Phil takes over as head coach

yes.. very real possibility, so lose to happening etc... but that trade that you mentioned, to somehow get those 3 in LA will not happen, even though it will look great on paper, it just will not happen

Well, we got Nash.  We just need to complete the deal for Howard.  I don't care for Amare though.

Huge trade for the Lakers. But they need still need to get faster and more athletic on the wing. Defensively, their interior defense will be great next season with Gasol.

But Nash to Howard?? OMG....It's gonna be alley oop city in LA.

Getting Howard while keeping Gasol is huge, but keeping Metta was almost as important as anything LA did this offseason.  They need him to defend Durant, LeBron, Carmelo, overall defensive intensity, etc.

I love you Mitch Kupchak!  (no homo)  He is the man.

Today is a good day.   :)

When was day 1?  Last season?  This offseason when Orlando was in trade talks with the Nets, Rockets, and Hawks (among others)?

In any event, I'm glad he's in LA.  Mitch has done an outstanding job as GM since taking over for West.

It's going to be alley oop city in LA with Nash and Howard. Their interior defense is going to be really good. But they still need to get more athletic on the wing positions. Defensively, they'll have a hard time keeping up with faster, more athletic teams. If they pick up a couple of young horses who can play defense, they'll win 60-65 games easy. (If they stay healthy)

They're pretty much done in free agency.  They signed Jamison (PF/SF) and Meeks (SG) and will resign Ebanks (SF).  Only people on their radar are Keyon Martin and possibly Barbosa.  I don't think they need either one, and I can't stand Martin, so I hope they don't sign him.  Barbosa would be a good addition.

I don't really see a defensive weakness other than Nash in the starting five, and Howard can help protect the paint when Westbrook, Parker, etc. run by Nash.
