Scott Walker in Tuesday's recall election, he did take the time to issue an election-eve Tweet in which he proclaimed to be "standing by Tom Barrett. He'd make an outstanding governor.- bo" Though Obama traveled as close to Wisconsin as Minneapolis on Friday, he didn't make any personal visits for Barrett. Former President Bill Clinton rallied a Milwaukee crowd for Barrett that day.

During a speech at the New Amsterdam Theater in Times Square, the president mixed up his Republican opponent with former Michigan Governor George Romney while contrasting their economic policies.
 

“We are not going back to a set of policies that say you’re on your own and that’s essentially the theory of the other side. You know, George Romney,” Mr Obama said.
 

As the audience roared with laughter at the president's parapraxis, Mr Obama, who was not using an autocue, attempted to explain the mistake before continuing with the speech, later referring to Mitt Romney as “Governor Romney” – a title both men share.
 

“Governor Romney is a patriotic American, he’s had great success in his life and he’s raised a beautiful family,” the president said. “But he has a theory of the economy that basically says, if I’m maximising returns for my investors, for wealthy individuals like myself, then everybody’s going to be better off.”
 

The half-hour speech, which was focused on the economy, continued to cast Mitt Romney’s policies as a throwback to the 1950s and 1960s – a reoccurring theme of Mr Obama’s reelection bid.
 

“We’ve started to right the ship and were moving in the direction that we imagined in 2008. We’re not going back, we intend to go forward and that’s why I’m running for a second term,” he said.
 
President Obama’s mistake follows a string of election gaffes in the last few days.

(CNSNews.com) - For the fifth time this year, as reported by White House transcripts, President Barack Obama has given a speech in which he mentions “my sons”—despite the fact that he is the father of two girls and no boys.

Who exactly are Obama’s “sons”? The term “my sons” is apparently a paternalistic figure of speech the president likes to use to describe some subset of the American male population who are other people’s children.

As with the last two times he used of the term “my sons,” Obama used the construction on Monday in New York City while talking about the “preventive services” regulation issued by his Department of Health and Human Services. This is the regulation that will require virtually all health care plans in the United States to provide women, without any fees or co-pay, with sterilizations and all Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptives, including those that can cause abortions.

Forty-three Catholic dioceses and organizations—including the archdioceses of Washington and New York, Catholic University of America and the University of Notre Dame—have sued the administration over this regulation, arguing that it forces Catholics to act against their faith and is a violation of the First Amendment right to the free exercise of religion.

“We’re not going to go back to the days when somehow women couldn’t get the preventive care that they need,” Obama said at a campaign event at the New Amsterdam Theatre.

“We don’t need a situation where women aren’t controlling their own health care choices,” Obama said. “We don’t need to eliminate Planned Parenthood. I want my daughters to have the same opportunities as my sons. That’s part of what America is about. We’re not turning back the clock. We’re not going backwards.”

Emboldened by an enthusiastic reception from Hollywood's gay elite, President Barack Obama made what appeared to be a shockingly off-color joke about his wife and Ellen DeGeneres during a fundraiser last night.
 
Obama warmed up the crowd by thanking DeGeneres, who hosted the fundraiser and introduced the President, and joking about the First Lady's appearance on her talk show:
 
"I want to thank my wonderful friend who accepts a little bit of teasing about Michelle beating her in pushups," he said, according to a White House transcript. "But I think she claims Michelle didn’t go all the way down."
 
The crowd reportedly erupted with laughter at the joke, although accounts conflict whether Obama's sexual innuendo was intentional.
 
According to the Los Angeles Times, Obama "kept a straight face" and "seemed briefly caught off-stride" by the audience's interpretation.
 
But White House pool reporter Todd Gillam, of the Dallas Morning News, writes that Obama let the line "hang naughtily, provoking laughter from the crowd." (It should be noted that Gillam's pool report misquotes Obama in a way that suggests the President was making a joke about blowjobs.)
