U. of Chicago medical center VP revealed as Jeremiah Wright briber

On an appearance on Sean Hannity’s radio show on Monday, “The Amateur” author Edward Klein revealed the name of a close ally of President Barack Obama that his book alleges offered a $150,000 bribe to Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be quiet until after the 2008 election.

“Well, what happened is that after ABC’s Brian Ross broadcast the video tapes of the Rev. Wright ‘God damning America’ and slamming whites and slamming Jews and America, he was contacted by one of Obama’s closest personal friends — a guy who travels on Obama’s plane, who plays basketball with him, who goes on vacation with him,” Klein said. “His name is Dr. Eric Whitaker. Dr. Whitaker is the vice president of the University of Chicago Medical Center and he’s a member of Obama’s very tight inner circle. And he sent an email to a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.”

Klein reminded listeners that Whitaker’s hospital is the same one that paid first lady Michelle Obama $316,962 a year to handle community affairs for the University of Chicago Medical Center while her husband served in the U.S. Senate.

In an email, Klein said Whitaker had offered Wright $150,000 “if he would shut-up and not criticize Obama anymore.” When Wright refused Whitaker’s offer, Klein said Obama himself personally met with Wright, which supposedly took place after Obama’s March 18, 2008 “race speech,” confirmed by both Wright’s word and the U.S. Secret Service logs.

Isn't Rev Wright the same man who when America was at war, quit medical school and joined the military to serve his country, while guys like Clinton, Bush, and Cheney did everything in their power to stay out of harm's way? Is that he same Rev. Wright we're talking about?

Documents: Obama friend Whitaker had history with Jeremiah Wright
The Daily Caller ^ | May 16, 2012 | Matthew Boyle
Posted on May 16, 2012 3:02:59 AM EDT by Free ThinkerNY

Documents obtained by The Daily Caller show that President Barack Obama’s close friend Eric Whitaker, who runs the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Urban Health Initiative, spoke at Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Chicago-area church in 2006.

Whitaker was a speaker at Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ during a Sept. 17, 2006 “Health Care Justice Forum,” according to a church bulletin TheDC obtained. The bulletin is no longer on the church’s website.

Whitaker made headline news Monday when New York Times bestselling author Edward Klein alleged during a radio interview with Sean Hannity that Whitaker offered Wright $150,000 to stay silent during Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Wright, an infamous weight on Obama’s campaign, refused Whitaker’s offer, according to Klein. He documented the episode in his book “The Amateur.”

Before becoming affiliated with the University of Chicago, Whitaker was director of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Then-Sen. Barack Obama helped him get that job: According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Obama called former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s political fixer, Tony Rezko, to recommend hi.. Today, Rezko is serving a prison sentence for his illegal activities on Blagojevich’s behalf.

University Of Chicago Deflects Questions About Alleged Wright Pay-Off (Obama pal Erik Whitaker)
 BuzzFeed ^ | Thursday, May 17, 2012 | Rosie Gray

Posted on Thursday, May 17, 2012 1:06:13 PM by kristinn

The University of Chicago is deflecting inquiries about Eric Whitaker, the University Chicago Medical Center doctor and close friend of President Obama's who was linked to pastor Jeremiah Wright in Edward Klein's new book about Obama.

In a recorded interview for Klein's book "The Amateur," Wright claimed that he was offered $150,000 to stop preaching during Obama's 2008 campaign due to his increasingly high-profile, controversial status as the race wore on. Yesterday, Klein played a recording of an interview in which Wright appeared to confirm that the person who initiated the alleged payoff was Whitaker, one of Obama's closest friends.

A spokeswoman for UC Hospitals directed BuzzFeed's questions about this claim to the Obama campaign. The Obama campaign did not return a request for comment, and Wright's office ignored repeated requests for comment.

Chicago’s Father Michael Pfleger Removed from Ministry Over New Sexual Abuse Allegations
Catholic World Report ^ | 10/16/22 | Jonah McKeown
Posted on 10/18/2022, 9:52:33 PM by

St. Louis, Mo., Oct 16, 2022 / 12:50 pm (CNA). A well-known Chicago priest has been asked to step aside from ministry during an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse against a minor.

Father Michael Pfleger, senior pastor at St. Sabina parish and a well-known social activist, will live away from his parish while the allegation — which he denies — is investigated. The alleged abuse occurred more than 30 years ago, the archdiocese says.

In an Oct. 15 letter, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago said Pfleger has “agreed to cooperate fully” with the request to step aside from ministry following the allegation made to the Office for Child Abuse Investigations and Review.

As is required by archdiocesan child protection policies, the allegation was reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and law enforcement, Cupich wrote. The archdiocese has begun its investigation and “we will do our best to keep you informed,” the cardinal pledged.

“The person making the allegation has been offered the services of our Victim Assistance Ministry and the archdiocese has begun its investigation and we will do our best to keep you informed,” Cupich wrote.

St. Sabina pastor Father Thulani Magwaza will serve as parish administrator in Pfleger’s stead, Cupich wrote, and noted that until Magwaza returns from a visit with family in early November, Father David Jones will serve as temporary administrator.
