We (people) are communicating in a cyber way a lot more that in a "face to face" way already, so... FB is juct one of the "Cyber worlds" for the communication of the "New age" (which will prevail I dare to say), just one of the mirrors of a changing society, nothing more. Most probably society will literally "live" in virtual worlds after some decades, leaving a "real world" for physical sustainment/etc.. Just wait till a good "computer brain" interface arrives. "Traditionally minded" people will try to oppose all that, but due to evolution they will cease to exist as the time will go by. It's all changing, just deal with it. Don't use FB or any other social net if you don't like that. BUT - don't be surprised if one day you'll lose some kind of work/personal relathionship or other opportunoty due to that stagnated and conservative mind of yours, as - most people will be using all of that and creating "social dynamics" there, which will affect real life in many different ways.
I personally don't use FB too much. 99% of my "status updates" are some quality music (and there are people in my friendlist who appreciate it, so do I), some nice pics from my trips to various places (I'm interested to see some of the pics pike that of my friends, and they like 'em too, I think), that's about it (aside a good way to get "newsfeed" from places like "WIRED", "The Wallpaper", favorite bands, etc...). I can't understand these who lay down the details of their private life for everyone to see either. I think it's pretty stupid to give out your privacy that easily. But that's their business, I live my own life..
