If you think about it, the first mr olympia to bring in a muscular, proportionate, ripped and dry physique was bannout in 83. Up till then, there hadn't been a total package like that. He set a new standard. That year the transition between the old days and a new standard began.

Arnold 74 was great, in his own league

Zane 79 was ultra, never-before-seen ripped, 1980 if not for injury he was bigger and with same conditioning wouldve been unbelievable. As it turned out, he looked like shit compared to his own standard. Shouldve pulled out.

That 83 bannout set the standard for the 80s and beyond conditioning wise, until yates

Yates 93 showed mass and rock hard graininess, so much dry muscle on a frame

Ronnie 98 is beyond words

Since then, nothing to see.

Guy had a blend of mass, a back that was wide and thick, extremely thick pecs, a torso that was massive, poor arm genes, combined with the massive torso, looked even smaller. Legs were enough for the day

In a pre slin era, he brought 250 dry lbs ontage(except 1990), with a small waist, and he could do a vaccuum pose...

Technology and sports progress together so it is highly unfair to the older generation to compare them to todays.

I believe that anyone here will say that Arnold and Ronnie had the beste genetics for bodybuilding ever. In my mind there is no doubt this at all.

I think Yates and Haney had the best genetics of all Olympians.

i agree about sergio, if a 25 year old sergio was competing in the 90,s he would have smoked everyone, the guy had no weaknesses. as long as he didnt go the huge gut route he wouldve beat those guys

in fact they all have weaknesses and strong points sergio was oftenn too smooth lacked bicep peak . and was no that great a poser . great genetics yes but not always used to the best . i wonder i we can even judge and compare physiques . its so complicated .

Ronnie was a monster and destroyed the opponents but he beat them by size and density, but his physique didn't flow, his structure was shit, his alien abs and no calves.
