poor ND, still bringing up the past b/c he can't face the present :-\

More irony from you who is in yet another Dorian Yates thread trying so hard to make everyone believe Ronnie is better than Dorian , keep trying sport maybe you'll get the hang of it.

Quote
lol, learn to read. I never disagreed with Peter McGough. I disagreed with your interpretation of his quote. He said Ronnie was "never harder or drier." If you go back and re-read the Truce thread, you will see I never disputed this. What I said is that 01 ASC Ronnie carried less body fat and had more fullness than Dorian. Ronnie may have been equally, if not more, conditioned than Dorian but he was never less conditioned according to your interpretation of McGough's quote. Anything else you would like me to correct you on?

LMFAO still don't get it , still trying to play with words because you can't admit as usual you're wrong and don't know what you're talking about. You never answered the question ( typical of you ) Which is he an ' expert ' or ' idiot ' ?  ???

More irony from you who is in yet another Dorian Yates thread trying so hard to make everyone believe Ronnie is better than Dorian , keep trying sport maybe you'll get the hang of it.

ironic coming from you who types novels for posts and has meltdowns when someone exposes his lies ;)

Flex competed with Ronnie 1998 Olympia , what's the difference between Ronnie 1998 Olympia and 2001 ASC? he had no bitch tits at the Arnold , 98 O and 01 ASC are almost identical what's the difference? he was both bone dry and rock hard at 249 for the Olympia and 247 for the Arnold , I'm just DYING to hear your explanation on how he's better in 01 I can't wait for this one

This quote is inaccurate STOP USING IT

As we do this interview, you'’re 10 weeks out. What do you weigh now and what do you aim to weigh on the day of the Olympia?

Right now, I'’m 305 pounds which is about what I was when I started my diet last year. I want to get the hardness and condition I had in 2003, and I will be lighter than at that show, maybe 10 pounds lighter maybe as much as 15 pounds lighter. Being real hard and full at 280 pounds will make me look real big.

We'’ve said before that the 245 pounds or so physique with which you won the 2001 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic is the best ever! unbeatable. Any thoughts about returning to that weight and look?

I can't return to it. I tried to do it at the 2001 and 2002 Olympias and got in a heap of trouble. [In 2001 Jay Cutler was leading Coleman after the prejudging, and in 2002 Kevin Levrone nearly overcame a fading Coleman.] At that bodyweight, things went wrong with depleting and carbing up, so that physique is now part of history. I can'’t go back to that. I been and gone and done it. You have to move on. Things change what was the perfect car in 2001 is not the perfect car four years later

Put it context , it was Ronnie's best physique ever it was unbeatable compared to this guys he was competing with. They were specifically talking about how HE didn't look better heavier , has absolutely NOTHING to do with Dorian Yates or his physique being better than every physique ever

That's been amended but you already know that Ronnie 01ASC is Ronnie 1998 Olympia with no bitch tits

At least you got this one right this time instead of changing it and it doesn't matter it's his opinion and so is this

Shawn Perine Ironage  May 9 2009

Although I prefer the Reeves-Zane-Paris physique, I still contend that there was never a more complete, muscular human being to walk the earth than Dorian on the day Kevin Horton shot him pre-93 O. I was never so shocked by a set of bodybuilding photos as when I went through that article. Even Ronnie at his best, lacked Dorian's hardness and certainly his calves.

Oppsss forgot that part too didn't you?he admits it's subjective and don't forget this from the same article

Taking all criteria into account, including his lasting impact, I believe Schwarzenegger is the all-time greatest

Sorry Ronnie

This has been answered many times , yes Dorian 1993/1995

And Dorian wasn't competing when Ronnie was at his best was he? another quote that had to do with Ronnie's personal best and how he was unbeatable compared to the guys he was competing with HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Dorian Yates

To sum this up NONE of them are judges all of them are entitled to their opinion doesn't make it fact and Ronnie 2001 ASC is Ronnie 1998 Olympia without bitch tits

All i know is Dorian had some weird looking legs. calves were too big, and the muscles in his quads looked deformed......they weren't in the right place.

His entire lower body doesn't match the judging criteria. it's out of proportion, lacks symmetry and lacks definition. The only thing they did match was that they were big and hard, everything his legs fall flat.

I'm surprised this isn't talked about more, the first time I saw a picture of Dorian Yates i thought.."what the hell is wrong with his legs ?, they look like melted plastic" oh...and "why is his stomach so big?"   ;D

This is what championship legs are supposed to look like, notice the difference

i would rather look like you and  a few guys here on this sight   than dorian ... . The guy did NOT look good, ever since I saw him as a kid the only thing that impressed me was his back. He worked with what he had though, but definitely did not have a physique most would aspire to. Just looked sloppy

That's a bit harsh. Dorian is one of the greatest BBers ever, i just don't agree with the judging criteria that he seemed to usher in, where conditioned mass is favored over everything else.

I mean, ND and a few others will disagree, but what i posted about his legs is dead on. They are not proportioned, his calves are too big , they are not symmetrical..one is different from the other ,and the muscles in his quads look strange, they aren't where they are supposed to be. and they are not separated at all.....you cannot see the "quad" muscles like you can with every other guy. and they don't look good in almost all of the mandatories

BUT...they are big and granite-hard...so he wins.

It's not his fault, it's the judging criteria. I would take flex Wheeler over him any day of the week. Yup, flex doesn't carry nearly as much conditioned mass as Dorian, but he fits the TRUE judging criteria better, if you consider all things equally, and not give unbalanced weight to size and conditioning.

and i'm not a "lines" guy...frank zane was an overrated twink in my book

The only pose that Dorian wins over flex in my book is the rear lat spread, because Flex is not nearly as wide, and his lower back and glutes suffer badly next to yates

Good shot of Ronnie , not so good shot of Dorian

Ronnie still wins that pose and back is suppose to be Dorian's strong point. Dorian has small, uneven arms, less back thickness (in that particular shot), and his lower half is less conditioned than Ronnie. If Ronnie looks like he was etched with a razor, Dorian looks like someone mashed dough with a rolling pin

His muscles looked much harder than the guys of his era also.
A lot of people think it's because he got drier than anyone else
but only partly correct. One of Dorian's greatest genetic traits
was that he had ultra thin skin. Take Paul Dillett when he cramped at the 1994
Arnold. He was probably drier than most bodybuilders at anytime BUT
he still was not going to get that granite look that Dorian had.
Take Victor Martinez for example. It's not that the guy has not tried like hell
to get into shredded shape like Heath, prime Dexter, ect. Unfortunately, the
guy has some of the thickest skin of the top pros. His shape, structure, round muscle bellies
and decent condition has taken him very far though.

That's why I think Dorian had the greatest genetics for bodybuilding.  Great balance, size and structural proportion, genetically thin skin and large calves (things you have or you don't), logical thinker, good response to drugs, and extremely dedicated.

no doubt. I think if Dorian never injured himself and dieted smarter instead of burning off muscle before a show, he could have had the greatest physique ever. Unfortunately, history played out differently. Ronnie pushed his physique further but I think Dorian had more potential for the reasons you stated

dorian's lower back was better than ronnie's.

but too bad for him that the rest of his back is not up to par.

Dorian is winning that RLS and appears drier and harder in the BDB

I'm sure you believe this , I find the he has less back thickness part very funny  ;D especially considering you're commenting on whose back is thicker via a 2D photo  ;D fantastic ability you have there  ::) a 247 pound Ronnie has a thicker back than a 260 pound Dorian because I looked at two photos LMMFAO kid you never cease to make me laugh

This is Ronnie and Dorian side-by-side , Dorian's arms don't look so small to they? both are 250lbs Dorian probably 255 because this is 1996 , ironically Ronnie 2001 would appear just like this next to Dorian albeit in much better condition but as far as dimensions this is the reality of the situation , now Ronnie next to Dorian 1995 the difference would be greater and Dorian precontest 1993? forget about it

Only in your fantasy comparisons does Ronnie make Dorian look small

That picture is the one that should adjust people's thinking a bit, unless they can't comprehend it.

Seeing pics of Ronnie/Dorian by themselves, Coleman does appear much bigger.  Scale is lost, but that picture finds it.

the pics of yates and ronnie side by side, are the reason i believe only the 2003 ronnie would have a chance of beating yates, because in 2003 he would have been more massive, what has been sighted as ronnies best condition by most, either the 98 olympia or his arnold victory, while being the best conditioned for coleman,he would not have been as conditioned as yates, coming in dry and hard was yates forte,no one came in that dry and hard,so the only chance ronnie woulkd have had was in 2003,when he was two ninety something, and still reasonably conditioned, and oner more thing yates quads were always more seperated than ronnies.

ok, please do not take this offensive at all, no disrespect intended. Your discription and assessment is an accurate one from a fan base point of view but way off from the ifbb judging point of view, let me explain, first of all to the IFBB judges there is no such thing as Calves being to big for your legs, NO SUCH THING, in fact Dorian got rewarded for his calves, never got docked for them being to big, again this is from the judges eyes, not from a fans opinion cause I actually agree with you that his calves where bigger then his legs (proportions).

Next,... we have the flaws you mentioned, true, very true, but the ones that have what Dorian is missing are a dime a dozen and what Dorian has that everyone else is missing is 1 in a million, Granite hard muscles is the single most important feature in bodybuilding to the judges cause it is a very rare occurance on stage which is the reason why they keep rewarding someone like Branch, cause his grainyness, what he lacks is common but what he has is uncommon and Dorian is yet way more grainy then Branch, again this is what's best in the judges eyes only, someone like you has a different view, fair enough.

lol @ you pretending it's impossible to tell thickness from a pic. There is a thing called shading that artists use to make a 2D picture have depth. Looking at pics of Ronnie and Dorian, Ronnie has more back thickness in the rear double biceps pose. Whereas Dorian's back looks like a 2D anatomy chart, Ronnie's looks like a walking anatomy chart with nooks and crevices between individual muscles.

look again. Someone edited the two of them together. You can clearly see a line down the middle where someone cropped the pic.

try again, kiddo. The experts who have seen both men don't even mention Dorian in the same sentence when they talk about size ;)

Team Flex – Flexonline.com, November 2004

"For whatever faults he may possess, Ronnie Coleman is quite possibly the most impressive physical specimen walking the earth today. Pictures do not do him justice. When he stands relaxed muscle literally hangs from his frame, as if his skin can no longer support the pendulous masses of flesh he has forged with untold tons of iron and steel. It’s difficult to imagine anyone surpassing Big Ron’s level of mass in this, or any, lifetime."

John Plummer – Flexonline 2003 Mr. Olympia Contest Review

"Coleman may never be an aesthete's dream but when it comes to mass, he has taken the sport on to another level."

http://www.flexonline.com.au/216.html

Flex Wheeler - MD, February 2004

"I'll go on record as saying Ronnie is truly the biggest, hardest, most shredded Mr. Olympia in history. No disrespect to anybody at all, but I'd to identify Ronnie Coleman as the greatest Mr. Olympia of all time."

Nasser El Sonbatyhttp://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/greatest-olympia-winner-of-all-time.htm

"Without any doubt I feel the best Mr. Olympia winner ever is Ronnie Coleman. If you take a look at Coleman in his prime, compared to any one of the other Mr. Olympia winners in theirs, you could say that Ronnie had more size and hardness and greater longevity."

Samir Bannout – An Interview with the Lion of Lebanon (Hosted on Bodybuilding.com)

"I saw Ronnie Coleman about three years ago. I had a prince named Prince Yasab Al Trarndy and he came out here to see the show and we went out to Vegas together. We went up to Ronnie's room and Ronnie posed for us and I will tell you I have never seen anything like it in my life in terms of muscle mass and quality."
