This statistic (women earn 77cents compared to men $1 for work) is incredibly misleading. Studies have shown men on average take the job that has more evening/weekend responsibilities, more travel, more pressure to produce/sell, more physically demanding, and less vacation. Because of that, the government is not comparing two exactly equal jobs, just two similar positions. Also, men are often more competitive and negotiate more for salary and upward mobility in the workplace. The statistic is inexcusably misleading.
